OK, second try (thank you, mods). Does anyone here have any experience with the hormone therapy and transition support program at the Howard Brown Health Center in Chicago?

My therapist has mentioned it and given me some literature and basically, as I understand it, it is a program based on an informed consent model rather than the traditional standards of care.

I'm just wondering what your thoughts are, pro or con, if you've sought support there or have gone through the program? Thanks, all, for sharing:)

I've done some research when I had trouble getting my therapist to recommend me for HRT. Fortunately, I finally found a endo willing to prescribe and I believe he used the same informed consent paperwork. I see you're from Ohio? You might be able to save some gas if you can find a doc nearby willing to use informed consent as well.

I go there. It is informed consent, and as I I'm sure you can gather, it's a process of speaking with a staff therapist about where you are and what you hope to attain. They then make a decision about whether or not your a fit for the program. If you are you have blood drawn and they get baselines for liver function etc. Then on your third visit you can get an HRT script.

I can't imagine traveling out of state for this service. Don't get me wrong, they're great there, and it's nice to have an enviornment where you know you are not out of place, but at the end of the day it would just be far simpler to get meds online and have a couple blood tests a year done locally in lieu of finding an endrocronologist or other doctor that can help you properly.
