First tentative post here... does anyone know any friendly shops in Southampton here in the UK? I've heard that Debenhams is normally friendly - in fact the only shop I've ever dared try anything on in was Debenhams (not Southampton). But are there any more?
I've phoned a few up and asked and most said there was no problem with it, but I guess things can be different in the actual store rather than speaking with managers on the phone!
Thanks

Evans has been very friendly to me (although it was not in Southampton). Good luck

Portsmouth shopping was good for me, haven't shopped in Southampton.
If I shopped in every town I visit in the UK I would be penniless and need a freighter to take all the loot home.

With Debenhams and M&S it's part of their equality policy to treat us properly. So if the SA's aren't friendly, they at least won't be rude.

In the end I chickened out of buying anything.
I went into lots of shops and even found a nice dress in Debenhams, but all of the shops were very busy, and the fitting rooms were all staffed by young chaps who didn't look super friendly... or the fitting rooms were right by the tills and big queues of shoppers. Eeek.
I ended up just using a couple of local charity shops and picked up a nice outfit for three whole pounds... big spender!
Sat here now dressed up feeling wonderful and with a smile on my face.
Thanks

Could you not just buy some clothes and then take them home and then if they don't fit - take them back?
