Has anyone else tried applying for the federal pre-existing condition insurance plan (http://www.healthcare.gov/law/features/choices/pre-existing-condition-insurance-plan/index.html) because they were denied health insurance due to GID?

health insurance companies are scam. If you have a pre-existing condition, they like to deny or make you wait 6 months before they will cover costs related to your pre-existing condition. They know right off hand if you had a PEC and what it was yet they want you to fill out paperwork proving you had insurance before. WTF?

How do I know this? My ex has asthma real bad and we had a hell of a time with insurance when we moved to another state, working for the SAME company but a different division of it. I mean god damnit, we are talking about ASTHMA here which effects people of any age, gender etc...
So the fact that they don't like to cover anything GID related is not discriminatory in the GLBT sense but IS so in the fact that they (ins companies) are crooks.

Thankfully the default for United (my carrier) is that they cover a lot of this stuff by default, even with a literal GID (now changed I guess in the DSM) diagnosis.
