View Full Version : Keeping tabs on my meds...

I finally had to do it.
Throughout I have been bang on with my spiro and estrogen for timing. Never missed a dose always on time. I could never do that with antibiotics.
Then twice this week I have had to sit and count out pills from the bottle in an effort to figure out if I had taken them or not. A fruitless effort since I had some samples when I started and my numbers were off. The first time my wife swears she saw me take it, but in the end wasnt 100% sure. Then this morning I took my spiro but not my E right away and was questioning whether I had already taken it. Sigh.
So I got one of the stupid 7 day containers, in order to keep track. I hate that my own memory is failing me in this essential way and seemingly all at once but at least I came up with a strategy to cope.
Just venting.

Sucks getting old.
I've got one of those pill things too. At least it is easy to remember if you took your meds that way.

I resorted to taking my pills with supper. I have them all in a box, and when I sit down to supper I go through all the containers and get out the number of pills I need and put them right in front of me, and then I take them as I eat, a couple more whenever I pause to sip my drink. After supper I put the box away.
I am supposed to be taking one of my pills in the morning, but I just don't have a firm morning routine, so I tend to miss taking it or forget whether I did or not.

Yep mornings are my foggy time too. I time it with immediately on getting up and just after I eat dinner, around 7. The mornings though are when I am least clear headed .

I use a weekly pill-container, too, Seana. Taking daily meds is such a routine action that, after a while, one does it on autopilot and doesn't remember later whether they were taken. However taking TWO doses of some meds can be dangerous, so it's better to set up a fail-safe system.

You got to watch out for that "Old Timers" disease. It will get you every time. Just wait until you get old if you are having problems now. :)

I use those pill containers for keeping track of the myriad vitamins and supplements I take each day. They really do help keep one organized.

I keep telling myself:
I'm not old. I'm 19 with experience and will be forever.
memory like a steel trap. Now if I could only remember where I put that trap. and my glasses and my hairbrush and my carkeys.

I use two-7 day pill containers; one for my morning pills and one for the nights. Most of my pills are vitamins but I do take four prescription pills a day. Leanne

I'm still waiting to doctor's approval to start HRT, but in the past when I had to medicate I just wrote it in my mobile agenda. I've good memory but it's easy to forget this things.

I've got a lot of interest in taking my HRT - I think it's a lifeline, a symbol of my intent to be myself. I always know where I'm at pill wise, though I still on occasion might miss a day or so (travel without them; get too busy). My memory seems to work pretty well on it.
Now the car keys wallet cell phone eyeglasses and three items on the grocery list my wife gave me over the phone - altogether different. ;^)
