Hi all.
I was just wondering if there were any crossdressers on here from Brazil or if anyone had had the opportunity to crossdress there on vacation or while working there-in particular during Carnival time? And what your experiences there were like?
And whether it was more accepted there generally (well compared with here in the UK anyway) because of the more easy going, relaxed atmosphere i've seen when i've seen Brazil featured on tv programs here? What with alll of the almost naked, save g-strings and speedos beach culture over in alot of the cosmopolitan, littoral cities.
Anyone able to enlighten me please?:battingeyelashes:
Thanks,
Anastasia

Of the 265 known murders of trans people last year, 126 of them were in Brazil.
There might be specific areas where it is welcome, but outside of those areas it can be most brutal.

Hello Sandra.
I never knew that.I thought it might be a more accepting place, especially in Rio, to try vacation partially en femme- mainly through Carnival and other rather, relativistically (limited now i realise) liberal lifestyles in the littoral cities.
Thanks for the heads up.I guess i should have tried researching first at bit more on google.

I've gotten the impression that there's not all that much crossdressing and most of the people there who care to dress as a girl, start transitioning pretty much immediately.

I lived in South America and have a Venezuelan wife so I will comment..The Transsexuals are a part of the culture.Due to Catholicism and it's rigid views,Transsexuals are painted with the big "GAY" brush by most, there. Combine that, with being viewed as a "freak of nature",and the hating intensifies by the ignorant. Many "T"s are self abusive in order to "pass" better via crude surgery and injections to pump up. They often hook for money and service a small part of the males there. So,some people look at them as a really bad part of the population, hence the murder rate. Some deaths are directly from prostitution encounters. So,when Carnival time comes, then they can be out playing and accepted as "part of the show". The "seedy side" is always there, people need money to eat. Remember, the tropics aren't London,so if you go there to be out and about, you won't need to wear much! Be sure you are comfortable with your very white skin showing all over until it tans up..No one is apt to cause you a problem in the touristy areas just the same as going anywhere else.

We had a couple girls from Brazil on earlier this year. I had a PM dialog with one, but I haven't heard from her recently. Perhaps they'll drop in on this thread.

Thanks everyone for answering my thread and helping me along.
Thank you Rogina for your insight into the country.I'm pretty new to TG issues and crossdressing more than a little lingerie when i was younger. So it's great to hear information from people who clearly are alot more informed.I didn't realise about the clearly big influence of the catholic religion shaping the population as a whole's ideologies on alot of issues including TG ones.So sad.
