Advice? talk to a doctor, get him to refer you to a specialist that deal in transgenderism issues. Talk with that person and go from there. Also you have to be able to go out in public for 1 year dressed full time. So you are going to have to deal with people saying hey thats a man in a dress and stuff like that. Basically its a big life choice. You need to be 100% sure that this is want you want with your life. The voice thing is done with surgery. They shorten your vocal chords. Also cost a lot of money :) not including driving to doctors appoints and stuff.

one of the best places to go to learn more about SRS (sexual reassignment surgery) is to go the website SRSmiami.com. the doc there is great. his name is dr. reed. they will go into detail on that site as to what to do, what to expect, both psychologically and medically prior to the surgery. they will also detail the costs as well. hope it all goes well for you. :)

And if you got the money they cn do amazing things with surgery. And you can still have orgasms.

This i svery good advice. You don't say what country you're in, because the proceedure is slightly different in different countries. In the UK it also depends if you go private or NHS - private you can have the op after 12 months RLT (real life trial), where on the NHS you have to do 2 years RLT. The NHS also appear to want you to jump through hoops and anything else that delays things (please bear in mind I am only repeating the general feedback from others - I have no first hand experience of the NHS, as I am going private).

Don't think for 1 second ANY of the proceedure is easy or quick and be 100% sure of yourself and that SRS is what you want and need before you start down the long road.

I was given some very good advice when I was trying to decide if I wanted to and if I could go through with things. That advice was don't do it unless you are prepared to loose EVERYTHING. That includes family, friends, job, car, your home and everything else.

I repeat, this course of action MUST NOT be taken lightly or on a whim.

Genital Reassignment Surgery will not change your voice, neither will hormones. You'll need voice therapy and depending on your range, possibly vocal cord surgery.

Hello Kitty,

Your post is facinating and disturbing at the same time. Let me first advise that only you can decide what is right for you and your future. Nothing that anyone says can make a difference to that respect, it is your choice. You can take what I am about to say how you want it...

There are some very important questions that you need to answer for yourself here. There are two basic forms of transexualism, early and late onset. How old are you by the way? For late transistioners who have maybe a wife and some kids loosing everything is a great problem. For some of us (like myself) who are early transistioners we can basically start all over again since we don't have a whole lot in the first place. I am 23, never even been on a date, live at home, have skills to get into a job, etc. While it may be hard for a while it is quite different at my age.

Disliking your penis or being facinated with girls are not the real reason to want to go through sex reassignment. The question is could you really work and live in the other sex, actually function? Could you deal with all the short comings of being a woman, making less money, less respect, etc? Do you have a skill or are you willing to go back to school to make a living. Can you plan all the little things out and prepare for the worst. Are you willing to loose all your friends, family, etc?

It is no longer true that 80% of MTF transexuals loose the ability to orgasm. Modern SRS techniques perserve much of the sensitivity in the area. That said are you willing to loose the ability to orgaism? Your voice can not be modified by hormones along (some slight changes are cited though). Voice training of surgery are the best options there. What about your face? If you are young it makes a big difference. You might need some sort of Facial feminization surgery.

Talk to a gender therapist, find out what is going on deep inside of you. Once you understand that planning all these things should be easier. It is a long road and some of us are better than others.

Good Luck,
Mandy

Which surgery did you do? It take more than a few weeks for the swelling to go down from surgery right?

Hmmm... orgasm... very interesting topic, I wish I could share knowledge on that

Hi and thatnk you for your help i really aprecite it as for my age i'm 20 i'm five feet ten inches and i weigh one hundred and eighteen pounds i have been told i am very feminine (not to be self-richouse or anything). I want the surgery for more reasons than i stated i just feel alot more like a gir and i want to be one so i can be myself in public. i would be willing to lose the ability to orgasm but my friends said they would stay by me and so did my mother. I guess i figure that if i got a sex change i could go around in girls clothes and act like myself without being beat up i culd live out my dreams

I agree with MadisonLee and BrendaChristine 100%...make sure you are completely sure, and seek professional medical help (do you research before investing any $$$). Surgery will help you get past most of the "roadblocks" you perceive to have, but you get what you pay for, so don't go cheap. ;)

The orgasm part is hit or miss, as I am still able to get there from intercourse and manual, but I know several friends who have had trouble there. No promises, but is it really about the sex anyway? I never had sex as a man, so I did not know what I would lose...but that never entered the equation. It was about identity and comfort with myself. Have you begun your RLT yet?
