Hi Girls,
Why do some sites list an endless variety of stockings for sale?

Though not the most studious person as a youth, I still will reseach things in depth at times. I have bought a few pairs, mostly with some Lycra in them.
I prefer the heavier deniers: sturdier and darker, you know.

But 100 non-stretch nylon? Some folks seem to swear by them. They may give you a more "bound" feel i figure...and they are a bit shinier than others I think...so will give some a try...but DON"T buy too small, cos there is no stretch!!!

a few good sites i found:

IL MERCATINO DI MARCELLO on ebay Italy sells vintage pairs for under 6 euros but you must decipher the french or Itialian in the ads
(sometmes a silly Catholic education can help you shop, huh?)

http://www.silk-stockings.co.uk/ has two of this type and many stretch type.

A very good site seems to be http://www.stockingshq.com/
based in UK still shipping cost to US not so bad.

SO any girls out there have any strong opinions about leggings? sure some do!!! I ll let you know in couple weeks how my purchase went.

Yes it pays to research. I have read the packages and over time figured it out. Lycra is the magical element. Combine it with a higher DIN, 40 or higher and you will get a great fit and a very strong and durable pair of hose. Of course sizing on the package is still critical, and I have found North American brands fit shorter than European brands.

Of course the higher the DIN, the thicker the thread and the tighter the compression. Yes, they can be initially quite difficult to put on and would be quite humourous to observe over a hidden camera. Usually after the second or third wearing they have stretched enough to be able to pull on a little easier.

Other fit issues are the waist band at the top, better brands have a wide, non-roll top which clings well, generally all-over control tops are best if you are top heavy.

As I mentioned, European hosiery seems to be a little longer no matter where it is from, Italy, Germany or France. And they don't need to be expensive if you have discount stores in your area, ie. Winners etc.

I really enjoy wearing a great pair of hose, they feel smooth and smooth out the lumps as well. I find a little compression adds to the comfort feeling.

There you have it. I educated my girlfriend on these facts as well and she has benefited quite well from it although I still buy her hose for her most often.

One other note. I forgot to mention Sears, some of their Vanity Fair and Jessica hose are excellent for taller women.

Stockings come in different deniers, The higher the number the thicker the nylon, lower number the more sheer they are. Then there are stockings that have no give in them, like FF's.
I tend to get most of my stockings from "www.stockingstore.com"
