I've seen links to several websites offering "crossdresser transformation services." Christine Nicole mentioned FemImage in one of her posts, and I've come across a website for Emerald Fantasy.

Sarah has had so little opportunity to actually explore her feminine side, try on clothes and make-up. Although I'm a GG, I ain't a real "girly girl," in that I don't dress up or wear make-up all that often. (I know, BLASPHEMY!!) Sooo, I dont feel as though I can be a lot of help to her when we finally do get a chance to let Sarah come out and play.

Ladies, what are your thoughts? Is it something you'd actually be interested in? Have you heard of reputable services? Or are they a waste of money? I want to give Sarah the makeover of a lifetime one of these days.

Fiona, how absolutely sweet of you to want to do such a nice thing for Sarah. I have myself used the makeover of the Glamour Boutique in Las Vegas, Nevada (www.glamourboutique.com (http://www.glamourboutique.com)). My experience was VERY positive and I have returned to them on multiple occasions. I'm not sure where you are from so this may not be of much help to you. Best wishes.

I would suggest maybe contacting a normal beauty salon. If you were to make the arrangements (as a GG), I believe it would go much easier. And there are always slaons near everyone. Try an upscale one or a day spa for better results....

Errrm... <blushing> Thanks, Holly. :) We both live in the Southwest, and I love Vegas. Sarah hasn't been to Vegas since she was a child, and I've told her several times I want to take her. It would be WONDERFUL to combine a trip to Vegas with a makeover for Sarah!! In fact, it would be more convenient than Emerald Fantasy (Seattle), so I will definitely check into it.

Thanks!! Ohh, I'm all excited, now!

Dana,

Thanks for the suggestion. :) We have a couple of day spas locally, and I might try that for him the next time he's here for any length of time. He did have his very first Swedish massage in June when he was here for a week, and I was tempted to arrange a facial for him, as well, but our time together is very limited, so we skipped the facial. :( He is so very much in need of pampering, and I'm making it my mission in life to rectify that whenever possible.

I definitely agree. :) I make it a point to pamper myself on a fairly regular basis, and Sarah is just going to have to get used to it. Whenever I have the chance, she's definitely going to be pampered!

Massages and facials are nice, but you can try contacting a local day spa and see if they will do a girl day for her - waxing, nails, makeover. I have had this done at a day spa - and I dodn't have the advantage of a GG arranging it all for me :) Just call or check in advance, and maybe you can set it up for the last appointment of the day?

Dana,

I'll give it a shot. :) Wow, it'll be a "stretch" for the both of us! Scary, but exciting, too.

Spas certainly don't have problems with guys doing the girly pampering packages -- money is money -- and I've done that a number times myself (massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, maybe a body wrap, etc.) As far as an actual makeover, I've never done that at a "regular" salon myself, but I know enough people who have that it shouldn't be too hard to find one that does. (Greed is a great motivator for tolerance.) If you've got a MAC in your area their corporate policy is that they're t-friendly. If it's a mall location Sarah might fell a bit exposed, but some of them do have private rooms -- and the artists will also do in-home visits.

I haven't been to Glamour Boutique myself, but I know a number of people have had good experiences there. If you're ever in San Francisco, check out Adam to Eve (http://www.adamtoeve.com), Eve is CD herself and a real sweetie. Plus SF makes a great getaway for a long weekend -- and oh yeah, we've got some great spas too.

We offer a wonderful transformation service here in the Chicago area. I personally work with many new girls who are just discovering there feminine side. The boutique is very private and we schedule makeovers for girls, one at a time so that girls get my complete attention for makeup, dress-up, girl talk and photographs. We take care of clients from all over the country. Being from Chicago, many girls fly in and see us when they are in town on business. If you're ever in Chicago, feel free to give us a call.
Love Always,
Theresa

The nice thing about the TG specialists is that you know they aren't going to be shocked, or laugh at you, etc. They also have experience in applying makeup to TG and do a pretty good job. Although one of them (CD-Tips) made me look ridiculous, and she was expensive. Maybe her methods work for others, though. Some of the best are very reasonable in pricing. Carla’s in San Jose is great and I love Carla Blair. She cares about her girls.

Fem Image is more of a finishing school for TGs that a transformation place. After living 20, 30, 40 or more years as a guy, there's a lot to be unlearned and a lot to be learned about acting, speaking, and interacting with the world as a woman. That's more of what Danae does and she's good at it. Recommended if you go out a lot, or if you are in transition.

Salons are good, but there will be other women around. That could be good or bad. It's up to you. Owners can be accommodating on slow days. Call and see.

BTW, I don't mean any offense to the GGs here, but many cosmeticians and makeup artists have said they like prefer working on TG clients. Since it's a treat for us, rather than something more ordinary as it is for a GG, TGs tend to be more appreciative, less demanding, complain less, and easier to work with. Our money is just as green as the next girl's, so why not work with us? Actually, our money can be greener than a GGs. We usually pay in cash. GGs usually pay by credit card or check, which can have transaction fees for the business owner.

Warm regards,
Christina Nicole

Marlena,

Thanks for the information. I've never been to SFO, so that might be a possibility. Our problem is time and opportunity. :( I really want to pamper her, though.

There are a couple of "day spas" here where I live; none where she lives (over 400 miles away, dammit). One of these days if Sarah is here for any length of time, I'll make an appointment at one of them for her and give her the works. :)

Christina and Marlena - thanks for the tip on Carla Blair. I'll look into her services, as well.

I want Sarah to have a wonderful experience. She hasn't had ANY pampering at all, other than the one massage I arranged for her, and dammit, she deserves it. Hoping we can manage it in 2006.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

Sorry, forgot the link to Carla's (http://www.carlas.com/). FYI, Carla's has a fairly comprehensive calendar of TG events in the Bay Area in case you want to time a trip to coincide with one them. The dinners out are nice, especially those held at the Hotel De Azna, which is one of the elegant old hotels in downtown San Jose.

Speaking of events, the TGSF Cotillion (http://www.tgsf.org/events/cotillion.html) is coming up in January. It will be my first, but my understanding it's sort of beauty pagent meets prom night, and it's a big deal locally. (FYI, ticket prices aren't listed on the site, but I believe they're in the $25-55 range.)

If you're in SF, you might also consider a visit to the MAC store on Union Street (in/near the Cow Hollow neighborhood). It's a stand-alone store, so you're not on display like you are at a mall location, and I've had nothing but good experiences there. And of course there's all the shopping around Union Square. The folks at Macys have been quite friendly as well. For the most part SF is extremely t-friendly, believe a CD is far from the strangest thing the locals have seen walking around -- and the tourists, well, we're just local color that they can tell the folks about when they go home.

If you do plan on coming out here, PM me and I can tell you about more abotu what's going on.
