I am going to go out today dressed up leaving from my house that way for the first time in broad daylight. I am driving over to the town my group meeting is at , about an hour away. I have left the house and returned at night before but this is the first time I will do it during daylight. I guess it is possible that the neighbors will see me, but what harm will that do. They probably will not even know it is me to tell the truth once I have my wig and sunglasses on.
I usually get a room at the hotel where we meet and change there, but I didn't have the chance this time. Anyway I have joined a group closer to this town and when I go there it just doesn't make sense to get a room for that, so I really have to get used to going out in the daylight in front of everyone.

Definitely get,out there and own it. The neighbors won't care in most cases. Mine have met me both ways and don't seem to bat an eye anymore. What they say in private isn't my concern.

Shoot I haven't ever even talked to them other than a wave coming or going. Its just something new so it is on my mind.

I appreciate the support ladies. Yes I figure the only way for me to get over the anxiety I get sometimes is to just do the things I want to do. Eventually it has to get easier. Well I gotta go get dressed.......girl time!

If it is like my neighborhood, they don't even know when I come or go anyway. Besides I don't tell them what to wear :)

Have a good time, you will se that 99.9% of everyone you pass today won't even notice

That, my friend, takes more than a little courage. I love it when I hear this sort of story. It encourages me to do the same close to home. As far as I can tell, that is really my only hangup now. I still have a fear of what the locals will think/say.

And Stacy, if you are not too far down South, I'd love to meet you sometime; I bet we could get into some real trouble together-without even trying!

It does! Do it enough times and wont even think about it anymore.

I will have to start telling my neighbors what to wear soon I guess. I had a good time, but cam home earlier than planned because of a headache that wouldn't go away.

Anyway the only thing I noticed was several cars would ride up next to me and then stay at the same speed for a while. Never noticed that before. All of them were men.

Hi Almost, so was it fun? I bet it was. And yes it keeps getting easier each time. I've been doing this from the same house for more than 20 years, and not one neighbor has ever said anything about it.

Danielle, Hmmmm, a Vampire crossdresser, sounds like a great movie!

Steph, it is always a treat to get out. I really do enjoy my meetings with my group. I was able to chat with 2 new members last night, and a nice girl from Belgium who was visiting, and to top it off we had a wonderful dinner. I noticed one of the new girls in the parking lot just sitting in her car and knew she was a bit scared to get out and walk in so I waited outside by my car near hers and walked her in to the meeting room. I remember that first time I ever went outside of the house.

Sonds like you're getting over the anxiety and helping others too. That's great!

I don't know if I am getting over the anxiety or just learning how to deal with it. It is getting better every time I go out. Yes I want to help others but I always have done that in all parts of my life. That lady was so pretty and had no reason to be afraid but we all go through that, even though this was a very safe environment. At my first meeting you could have put a can of paint in my hands and it would have been well mixed very quickly. Now I try to get there early to help set up if I can.

My hope is one day to be able to go out anywhere and not be bothered by it, but I still have a long way to go. It is easier when someone else is with me, but I just have to get to the point where I can just be me whenever I want to.
