I was walking on a moving walkway this morning and not paying attention as it reached the end. I almost slipped off and I reminded myself how frustrated I used to get with my wife because she would get so cautious when she get to the end of a walkway or escalator. Then I remembered what it was like when I would have heels on. It is not easy.

Truly different when you walk a mile in there shoes.

After all these years, I'm still a little hesitant to step on an escalator in high heels, although I'm getting better at it. Three or four years ago, I stumbled so badly getting off at the bottom of a "down" escalator in a shopping mall that all the muscles on one side of my body cramped up painfully. I honestly thought I might be having a heart attack. I sat down and the feeling went away eventually, but I was scared, immobile and in a cold sweat for about ten minutes. I'm really careful when I use them now.

Once on an old wooden Otis escalator I caught a heel.
It got scooped out by the tongue at the other end, no damage, lucky.
