Oh the irony. As some of you who might actually read my threads might recall, I'm an attorney. I am not out. I want to be out. I am planning on being out. But out at work is a ways off on my transition timeline. . . .
So what kind of case would the goddes of irony chose to throw my way?
My new client is a women's beauty college. A place where you can earn certifications in everything cosmetological - from hair, to nails, to skin. And I had to tour this land of makeovers and facials, and fills, today . . . . BIG SIGH!! At least this time the irony is not tragic in an Alanis Morissette way. :)
Gosh I love the goddess of irony, don't you?

You want to trade jobs and work in a salon? Am I ever glad to be retired. Heheh. I won't trade you either.
Edit: I'm out to all family members by default from twenty years ago. My then teenage daughter stayed home while mommy went off to an evangelical women's group outing three hundred miles away. Friday night, she went to bed and went into a deep sleep or so I thought. So this dummy got all the makeup on and was fully dressed when a knock on my door and "daddy?"
"I can't let you in." She then panicked, went to her room and called her grandma, who called my wife, who called me. So I broke the curse and made a midnight confession. By two o'clock, my wife was home, madder than a hornet and twice as mean. She called my two sons home from college, and filled them in on the details about their perverse daddy.
She then called her mom, my folks, and the pastor. Quite a few others were informed, and my friends as well. So I'm OUT. But I was also pushed back into the closet by five or six reparative therapists.
But being out may be what you want, but not what you need. Why? Because you would be out as a transgender attorney. Not a women. Amanda Smith has had her share of trouble, don't you think?

Circa 1994. I'm journalizing. Hoho, haha. Trying my best to be light when I really want to cry.

There is a lot of proof in the world that God has a sense of humor and a sense of irony. They are among his/her most endearing features!
There is an ancient Yiddish proverb, "Menschen tracht, und Gott lacht", it means "People plan and God laughs."
Maybe you can tell them you need a greater sense of the processes and it would help your understanding if you got a cut and set, a manicure and pedicure, and had your eyebrows waxed? It worked for Mel Gibson in the movie "What Women Want."

Persephone.

Well my client representative was nice. But he kept unknowingly pressing the irony envelope when he suggested I would know where to come for a hair cut - - - yea. I'm trying to grow mine out. :-)
