Last week I gave my boss 4 weeks notice and told him that Feb 3 would be my last day working in the restaurant.
Within hours of applying to several jobs via careerbuilder, my inbox was flooded with responses asking to set up interviews, all of them from marketing and insurance companies. One of them did not wait for a response but called me while I was at work. Since they took the time to call to set up an interview I went in on Wednesday and was told to return Monday for training. During the interview I outed myself as a preposition transexual and they said they had a transwoman once. I just finished the training and we are on call waiting for our background papers to comeback.
What I need advice on is whether I should start wearing female attire or do I have to continue dressing in male attire? At the momentum I only have one dress that would be appropriate for work. Actually I have four and two would look good for work. The rest of my clothes are guys clothes.
What is your opinion?

(Fyi: the only clothing policy they put out is that it must have a professional look).

Listen - marketing and insurance companies will give ANYone a chance. Charles manson could transition into a TS version of the lizard man (look up lizard man, he is weird) and these marketing scam outfits would hire him. Here is why -
They pay straight commission. No hourly or salary. You go in, they want you to make a bunch of contacts, no one buys anything, and you are basically working for free. Most people don't last a week in these jobs cause who wants to go to work and NOT get paid?
As far as them acting like they are selective about who they hire (hince the phony background check), that is just trying to make themselves look like it is a promising career. IT IS NOT. Think of door to door vacuum cleaner salesmen.

Here is my advice - seek out jobs that give you an actual paycheck for hours worked.
IF YOU DO go to the interviews, pay REAL close attention to what kind of compensation they offer. You can bet your sweet backside they will say "commission" (or if you don't know what that means, it means they pay based on how many sales you get) PLUS, outfits like that sometimes cheat you out of what little pay you might earn and act like they don't know where the rest of your money went.

The interviewer said it was either minimum wage or commission depending on which is higher so people will get a check regardless of whether they are able to make a lead.
They also have a major contract with home depot and I have seen them in operation at Home Depot.

"Bob",
How much thought and preparation have you done to transition at work? Do you use the legal name that you will prefer long-term? Have you changed your name, if applicable, on your Social Security card and your DL? Can/will you change your gender marker? What have you done physically? Have you had counslling? Are you on hrt? What about facial hair? There are a lot of details missing from your post. If your answers are affirmative to these questions, then this may be a very good time to transition on the job. If not, showing up as a dude in a dress may not be such a good move

I was going to mark female on the forms but they were for the background check so I thought better of it.

Are you a woman or a man? Dress according.
