I've written other posts about the truly wierd comments I sometimes hear. Usually not insults, just comments that make me stand there dumbfounded, then say 'what?'
Here's this weeks.- A lady in the coffee shop asks me 'Are you wearing nail polish?'
I admitted I was. She says 'That's kinda wierd'.
I was wearing furry pompom boots, leggings, a nice sweater, boobs, full make up, carrying a purse, and had just come from the hair salon. ALL she noticed was my nails?
Anybody have any of those real 'huh?' stories.-Celeste

I am sure that I get them, but I am out so much and those type of comments are so few and so far in between, that I have successfully ignored them to-date. I also like to meet and talk with strangers, so something like that is their unknown invitation to me to start a conversation with them. One comment I would like to make is that maybe the comments sometimes feel weird to us, but, if they are asked in true innocence, honesty and out of curiosity, I consider them great comments, and as I said above, a great invitation and chance to make them my new friend, or at least good acquaintance, and I am very good at accomplishing that.

That kind of comment would just want to make me look at my nails in shock and say, "oh my GOD, I AM"! Then make solid eye contact and say, "Did I just hear you fart"?

People say inane things now and then, and it doesn't make much difference to whom they say them. Your outlook is defined by you unless you choose to let others control your feelings.

Once my wife and I were eating in a restaurant after an evening's shopping. The waiter referred to me as "sir" even though I was presenting fully female. I have no idea if it was a slip of the tongue or a display of disdain.

And, you know what? I don't really care. If it was a slip of the tongue it is forgivable and if it was a show of disdain I'm not going to waste my life energy fighting a boor. Life goes on and I'll keep having fun being me.

He lost his tip, though. That's as evil as my Mimi and I get.

That's the way that I treat these issues as well. Enjoy yourself and if someone has a problem, it is their problem.

Presenting as you were I assumed you looked female. If she read you as a man that would be weird.
I just go with the flow and turn the weird comments back on the person that delivered them.
In your case the reply would have been, "It cost too much money not to wear it and you did notice it, THANK YOU!"

The waiter referred to me as "sir" even though I was presenting fully female.

I've very occasionally had this too. I wonder if I misheard, sadly with good reason. Another time I figure the young waiter picked me as male and was flustered in what to call me rather than disdain. Easier to let it go.

Vaste majority of cases its "M'am" all the way. Love that and the tips go up.

I haven't had any weird comments (that I have heard).

A few days ago I went into a Payless Shoes store. There was a young lady sales assoc ringing up another customer. I went over the the area of my shoes and she soon followed. I picked up a pair to try on and she said "these are women's shoes", so I said "yes I know". I sat down and she asked "Do you need footies to try them on?" and handed me a par of the little nylons, and I said "No thank you, I have on hose". She looked down at my feet, her mouth dropped open, and she turned and walked away. I'll bet she is still talking about me.
