Phew, first time ever in public

Took the dog round the block in a nice dress, my new MJs (love them!) etc. Wow, scary, excillerating, scary lol. I was just waiting for cars to turn round and come back pointing and laughing. Whilst having a wardrobe adjustment, a car goes and turns their lights on about 20 feet from me, didn't realise they were in it :D

I’ve walked the dog maybe a dozen times around the block and it still makes me a little nervous. Encountering adults isn’t so bad; it’s the teenagers and some of the kids. The women across the street asked me to go with them while they walked their dogs and we had some kids following us for awhile. I’ve also encountered the redneck Neanderthal, who lives on the corner halfway around the block, but he has pretty much kept his mouth shut since he took off on one of his neighbors, a black woman, and her husband punched him in the face; the Sheriff’s deputy said it was provoked and wouldn’t take any action against the husband. The rumor is that he used the “N” word. Still, when he is out it makes me a bit nervous. Most of my neighbors have seen me, and I have chatted with a number of them and if they have a problem with me dressed they haven’t said anything to me.

My first time out was over this past weekend. I was at the 1st Event in Peabody, MA. This event is designed for us to feel safe and comfortable within a group of understanding girls just like us. You should researched events like this in your area. It wasn't as difficult to do it this way, had plenty of support and absolutely had a great time.

I've walked my dogs fully dressed a few times dressed after coming home from an outing late at nght. Only time I was seen by a neighbor (that I know of) was on Halloween so I had a plausible excuse.
I've also walked them dressed somewhat androgenously and so far if they have seen me nothing has been said.

I didn't have any burning effigies on my lawn, so I guess I got away with it. The pup wouldn't look good with a poodle-cut (nor wearing a dress), he's definitely not a girly dog.
I'll see if I can pop a photo up tomorrow of what I wore out.

Way cool. I have only walked the dog once, and sort of hid my boobs. The real first time out was at red robin, where I went fully em-femme with a corset and breast forms. (My big ones) Nobody got upset, though i did eat at the bar where kids are not allowed. The female bartender, who recognized me, asked if I dressed on a regular basis, and I admitted, no, just when I got my guts up. She encouraged me to do it more often, but keep it at the bar. She also mentioned that Denny's, next door, had a cross dressing club that met every other Tuesday in the back dining room. I never knew that, but can't wait to go. I think I need a new dress, and perhaps shoes. For sure my new wig with a wig cap and taped up eyebrows. (New trick I learned last week at Carla's Boutique in San Jose. CA.) Keeps your wig in better position and lifts your eyebrows to have a more wide-eyed look. You also tape (Surgical tape) your neck from just below your ears to the top of the wig cap which pulls up your neck line and smooths out all that over 50 flesh. Makes your neck look younger and longer and way more feminine. Try it, it works! Also, a quality wig is different. I blew $140.00 on this one and it was worth every penny. Now i look like a "pretty" CD, vs. an older, overweight CD.

When we first go out, we feel safer in deserted places and in the dark. Do not forget that dangerous people feel safer in the same environment. No matter how safe you feel in the dark, you are safest in the mall at 10:00 AM on a school day. With that said, I went out at night to parks, neighborhoods, and walking trails numerous times before I ventured into the light and eventually around people. I will never go back to the dark.

So VanIsle, first, congratulations on going out and likely realizing that the fear was in your head rather than in the street. Now, how many other women were walking their dogs in a dress and heels? Probably none. If you really do not want to call attention to yourself, dress for the time and venue.

I live in a very safe area so I don't worry about being out at night, plus I can more than take care of myself even in heels. How many people were out walking their dogs in heels? None. How many were out walking their dogs at all? None. Was I overdressed? Not really, I had a pair of fairly low heels, and a big coat to keep me warm. Am I intending on doing again? No, not really, it was fun and all that, but I don't feel the need to be "out there". Perhaps in a social venue with other dressers then that's a different thing. I know I am never going to pass for female, even at an ugly convention for the blind I'm going to be one calling myself a cab at the end of the night :)
