Recently I've been trying to sit with my legs together. I would like to get to where my knees will stay together without me holding them, but so far after a while my leg muscles begin to strain.
Has anyone worked on this with positive results? If so I would appreciate any helpful tips.....

I agree with the above, it always takes thinking about and after a while it can be a pain.

Simple geometry dictates that not having your legs pinned further apart at the hips makes it more difficult to keep them parallel let along bring them to a point at your knees.... especially if you don't have uber skinny legs....

Karen,
You must remember some people do not understand simple geometry.
They don't use slide rules but rule of thumb now.

Do what I do and cross your legs.

I don't go out much but the few times I have I have found it comfortable to extend my legs in front of me and cross my ankles. I can't sit for long with my legs together and I certainly can't cross my legs. I envy those ladies on this board who seem to have no problem with doing those two things. I also envy GGs when I see them just plunk down with their knees already together.

cross your ankles and let your knees fall in the direction of the top ankle (left over right means fall left). If just vertical, you hold them together, just like women do.

You might try angling your legs to one side, you will end up with more weight on the hip opposite of your feet. There is nothing worse than to walk into a club and seeing someone wearing a dress and sitting like a truck driver.

Hi cowgirl, lots of suggestions, but no remedy. The problem for most men is the muscle complex in and around the hips; flexors and aductors. We don't use them much and, as a result, they are week. The best and only way I know of to correct the weakness is exercise. While you are at it, work on your hamstrings (that are probably too short and need stretching) and your spinae erector (the muscles that goes top to bottom of your back. Posture and strength to stand straight and walk upright is totally dependent on your back muscles. There are lots of good sites on the net or just a google search can give you the information you need. Actually, if you are serious about correcting that weakness, find a good gym, a good trainer and work your butt off (literally). You'll find that you will be able to move in ways you never dreamed of and have much more control over HOW you move, sit, and stand.

I don't recall this ever being a problem. I do have skinny legs. I never even think about it now. Maybe I learned this and it became habit so long ago I just always do it now. I say this to suggest you can reach this nattural point to.

It is a natural thing for me to just cross my legs like most women do, if i keep them down will have to think about keeping the knees together

I do stretching excersizes every morning. And, those have helped me. Those and PRACTICE!

Try turning your feet so the toes point towards each other a little bit. That always works for me. I also find that keeping my legs together is easier if you're wearing high heels.

hook one foot behind the other and keep your legs angled to one side...makes it easier.
