Funny situation at the doctor's office

I recently found a new doctor close to my home so went in for a basic physical and to get a referral for an exam by a neuro surgeon for severe back pain. I am a big guy and have had a very decent sized set of man boobs for years. I have soft skin all over as well. The usual procedures of blood draws, temp BP etc went fine.

When the young lady came in to do the EKG she was rather visibly shocked by my moobs. She said nothing but kept looking at my chest. After the test , she very quietly asked me if she could ask me a question. She asked if I was in transition. I said no I have always had big boobs. She looked at her chest and said you are bigger than me. (jokingly)

When the blood tests came back OK I asked the doc to verify the testosterone level with a another blood draw. The results came back and floored the doctor.
He said I can see one reason your breasts are so big, your T level is off the scale low. He then sent me for a spine MRI a xray of the spine and a mammogram. That was a hoot. Not too many men get mammograms. The tech doing the test said she gets a lot of TGs and TS's and was curious if I was. I hesitated and said yes I was a crossdresser. Then and there the conversation turned to clothes and where I shopped as she was a big woman too. She acted like we were sisters!

The situation at the neuro was similar and this time my GF went with me. The surgery they are planning is a new type where they get to the discs from the abdomen and use a plastic implant instead of titanium rods for the fusion. When the doctor said I would be on my back for a few days in the hospital, my GF blurted out that hospital gowns were hideous and could she bring me a bed jacket to wear. I thought the nurse was going to bust a gasket trying to keep from laughing out loud. The doctor had no idea what a bed jacket was and said I could wear 'whatever'.

I am sure I turned 14 shades of red but the joking was fine with me. At this point in my life I am not worried about it anymore. My GF then spilled the whole story to the nurse and long story short, she wants to see pics of me dressed. I am wondering if the entire hospital will be aware of my background when I check in, in a couple weeks.

You can bet on it. I had a unique visit to the er and by the time I got to the operating room I was legendary. They all knew what happened to me.

I am having a similar spinal fusion in two weeks. I plan to show up abnormal in a skirt and expect the whole staff will know about the guy in a skirt and panties by the time I am out of surgery. Just remember, you are paying for their services and they work fr you. If you get any nurses that eep coming around to stare or anyone else for that matter, ask for the charge nurse and demand the respect you deserve. We are just normal people who choose to wear clothing normally seen on the opposite gender. No big deal.

I have often thought about what I would do if I was in the hospital for a stay. I would be a lot more comfortable in my panties and nightgown.

Just remember, you are paying for their services and they work fr you. From what I've read on the net it might be worth being a bit careful. It varies depending on where you live but I understand there is significant anti TS feeling out there. I don't know how much of this feeling will be evoked by CD'ing and of course it would be very unprofessional but you wouldn't want even a small chance of your surgeon being biased against you. (Though perhaps you live somewhere where there won't be this problem?)

Of course in other situations peoples opinions don't matter so much but surgery is a special case.

Or am I just being paranoid?

One of the best hospitals in the world is University of California, San Francisco. You would expect that being in San Francisco would be really cool for anyone CD/TG/TS - uh, no!

The was a big labor relations case a couple of years ago when several female staff refused to be around CD/TS/TG individuals. A couple of the complainants were nurses, but most of the group were orderly/maintenance personnel.

(I am not trying to be a shill for the hospital but one my specialist MDs is also a senior adjunct professor at Stanford and when it came to getting lung surgery he told me to go to UCSF!)

My neuro was just elected as chief of the Board of Directors at the hospital and we are on the same page politically (Constitutional Republicans) I have no worries at all about the surgeon or the procedure.

BTW, for those needing fusion surgery, this is by far the best procedure from a healing and physical strength standpoint. You do get a belly scar but I never wear a bikini anyway.

Anything odd or outstanding about you sure does get around.
As an IT specialist I had five laptops to tune up for medical staff when they found out.
It passed the time, 3 days in hospital is just too long for me.

The only part of the surgery I am dreading is the hospital food during the stay. I am now at the point in my life where I have no problem at all answering any question about CDing. I am SERIOUSLY considering bringing a very pretty nightgown to wear. As the surgery in through the abdomen, I can just lift my gown to expose the surgery site as neeed.

When I had my hip replaced a few years back, I had two piece bikini tan lines and my toenails painted when arrived for my surgery. No one said anything but just before my spinal, I heard the nurses admiring my "tramp stamp". I had more comments about my tan lines when I went in for my EKG prior to the surgery. Medical personal are very professional. I go in for my 3 month check ups dressed as Annie for every visit and am totally accepted by the entire staff. My physician told me that they look forward to my visits and oftentimes wonder what I will be wearing. My doctor and I belong to the same church and although we attend mass at different times said that if I ever see her at mass that I should make sure to introduce myself as she would not recognize me in male mode. I find that the people in the medical profession are very accepting and I never hesitate to be myself when need medical advice or attention.

Thanks for the warning, but as a 6"+ man who is bald and muscular, people don't mess with me much for being in a skirt and those that do, seldom do so again.

Well hopefully there's nothing to worry about but I was more thinking about when you're helpless under anesthetic. And suppose that the surgeon has some religious objection to TS's or CD'rs or something, might it effect how well he does his job?

Back in the heyday of feminine lingerie, a bed jacket was a short, waist length, very pretty sort of robe to wear if you were lounging in bed or bedridden for a while. It was just a sweet piece of very feminine finery to make a woman feel a bit more dressed for visitors or to cover a plain cotton hospital gown.

The bed jacket comment that your wife said made me smile as it reminded me of a time I was in heart hospital a few years ago for precautionary overnight observation and when I first got to the ward they put a couple of plain looking hospital gowns on the end of the bed for me but wife didn't like them at all and went and went to hunt down the nurse to ask if they had anything more colorful and then low and behold she came back with a more feminine, brightly colored, flower patterned one for me to wear :)
