View Full Version : Should I Shave My Legs?

As I have mentioned in the past I’m a closet crossdresser and the other half has no idea or has just not confronted me yet... I’ll be traveling for the next 30 days before returning home and am very tempted to shave my legs and nether regions for the first time. Will 30 days be enough to try it out and allow everything to grow back or should I just settle for a pedicure and paint my toes?

Go for it! If you shave you will have sufficient growth by the time you return so that no one will say a word. Get that pedicure too.
if you are expecting someone to talk you out of it, you came to the wrong place.

In 30 days your hair will grow back enough that she will never notice. Go for it so long as it's not going to compromise your professional life. I would love to shave my legs at least once but in my job it would never EVER fly.

I say go for it. The month should be enough time to let the hair grow back. As Gina said this all depends on your job and whether or not this will affect it.

Do it. But be prepared to get addicted! The feeling is wonderful and worth the trouble. The ingrown hairs can be troublesome but there are ways to fight that.

I agree with the others who have posted here, 30 days should be plenty of time for it to grow back..
BUT!
Be careful, it's an addicting feeling! After keeping mine shaved I can't stand to have hair anymore, feels so awesome! Be sure to exfoliate and use lotion afterward to help keep ingrown hairs (red bumps) down especially if this is your first time! There are tons of options for exfoliating, I bought what's like an exfoliating bath sheet at Target for less than $5 at the suggestion of the lady who does my waxing and it does the trick wonderfully.
Good Luck! :)

Go for it. There is something incredible about slipping on a pair of hose, or even sliding into clean sheets in bed that is indescribable. Wonderful doesn't even come close. Go for the pedi as well. I walked out of the nail salon with "Million Dollar Red" polish on my toes, and just grinned like a fool every time I looked at them. Like every one else said, "Just be prepared to get addicted."

I agree to Groovy on the issue of addiction. I had hesitated when I first removed my leg hair using electrolytic epilator. But once my legs become smooth, I couldn't stop epilating my legs. Perhaps you should expect yourself being addicted to smooth legs for pantyhose once you experience the feeling. It is unforgettable.
My wife once found out my clean legs on the bed just after we got up in the morning. But she said nothing about it. Perhaps she might have known my crossdressing but intentionally shuns the mentioning of the issue. Once she caught me just as I tried to take off my pantyhose in a closet after I came home after a day's work and asked if I wear it because of the cold (fortunately, it was winter).
I said yes, and she told me about it no more.
I will talk about it in more detail later in another thread.

Your SO would probably notice the nether region rather quickly so maybe not shave that.
You will be miserable 2 days later when the stubble comes back and that feeling will last for a week or so.

Altaira, I won't speak for other members, and I don't know how hairy you are, but I don't think 30 days is enough for it to look the same way it does now, before shaving. You may be able to get away with it, but as many have said, it is truly an amazing and addicting feeling. Since shaving them for the first time in my life in mid-Dec, when I came out to my wife, I have shaved or used depilatory nearly every day. I just can't stand the feeling of stubble now, and my wife loves the way they feel under the sheets. And of course I wouldn't dream of pantyhose or thigh highs one hairy legs now. My dilemma is when I (or if) I let the hair grow back for summer. I think I have to, since I take the kids to the pool, work outside in the garden in shorts, etc. Alas, I will try to be content with dreaming of cold weather when I can be smooth again. Good luck!

Go for it! In 30 days you will most likely return to normal or nearly so. If there are any questions, just say as I said when I got caught out - I was just trying to trim myself so that the next time we made love, it would be better for you. (it worked and now I am totally shaved except for a 'landing strip', which my wife asked me to make it a bit wider). Guess she is expecting an A380 , rather than a prop jet :)

Thirty days may or may not be long enough to look as your SO last remembers you. The more important thing I would consider, is that if she does notice and asks you about it, are you prepared to tell her the truth. If not, I would not put myself in that position. Deception is obviously not a good path to follow, not that you would. But the choice should be weighed carefully. And yes like others have shared, you'll never want to go back to hair, and hate it even more I you have to regrow it.
Once you open Pandora's box....

I shaved all of my body hair for the first time 10 days ago
1. My wife had to help with this as it was not easy
2. I had to use hair clippers first as the razor just would not cut it (excuse the pun)
3. I felt a little itchy after and I still am
4. I had a bit of razor rash afterwards
5. My body looked a little odd at first (the word bald chicken came to mind)
6. I felt very sensual afterwards especially slipping in to stockings
I am growing my hair back now as I live in shorts in the summer but the desire to keep shaving has not dwindled and I am very tempted to keep shaving. I will just have to keep the discipline and after 10 of not shaving the hair is well on the way back I hope this helps Andrea x

I would add my 2p worth and say yes! As someone who is quite (read very) hairy, it has it's benefits:
1. You'll feel great. The difference between hairy/not hairy is fantastic and the first night in bed is just sublime!
2. You'll feel cooler. This is important if you're travelling somewhere colder, so it's worth noting. This is great if you're doing something active in the summer. Plus your legs will look great and tan better!
3. It's addictive! Don't say I or any other girl here didn't warn you!
4. Baths will feel different, you'll not stop stroking your legs, you'll want to try hold-up stockings, skirts will feel different, you'll obsess over every little hair, you won't stop looking in the mirror, etc, etc... It's a very slippery slope!
5. You'll look younger. Although slightly unrelated, I started shaving back on my hands (yes, I'm THAT hairy) and I swear they look ten years younger.
Word of advice - DON'T shave your nethers. If you are quite hairy then it will itch like crazy and you'll look like a sexual wierdo because you will not help but scratch. I did it years ago (back when I lived with my parents) and would have to scratch almost every five minutes because it drove me nuts for a week! Odd looks from my parents - I bet they thought something was up :o Now I just trim it down to a No. 2 on the clippers, and the SO hasn't really noticed.
(it worked and now I am totally shaved except for a 'landing strip', which my wife asked me to make it a bit wider). Guess she is expecting an A380 , rather than a prop jet - this nearly made me spill my coffee over the laptop!

Fully agree with this! Women notice everything and if she goes south she will definitely notice, and being away for a month can raise a lot of suspicions!

I'll be encouraging as well ^.^
can't help but smile when i saw darla's reply "if you are expecting someone to talk you out of it, you came to the wrong place."
Anyway, I have yet to do it, but I'm intending to... just looking for a "good" method, hopefully one that last longer and slightly less "return" issues like stubble. Thinking of waxing... any recommendations or advice?

Thirty days may or may not be long enough for your leg hair to grow back, but remember, you'll only be shaved and smooth for a day or two, then the hair will start to come back. You'll have to let it grow back so it will look "normal" when you get home to your wife.
So the question is- Is it worth the trouble for a day or two of pleasure?
My answer would be "No".

I would say if you have to ask "us" for permission, you are asking the wrong person(s). Me, personally, would say nu uh, no way. Things can go a lot more wrong than you suspect and you could leave a clue that she will find. But then again, I think we should be honest with our SO's and not sneak even little things behind their backs

This thread has gotten me to think a lot about going ahead and shaving my legs.
My legs are already mostly hairless (this is the *only* part of my body that could be described as hairless.) WHat is there is weird and somewhat patchy, and my wife already comments on the smooth parts. The hell with it - I'm just going to make them uniformly hairless, I think.
Maybe doing this will help me open a dialog with her about everything else.

Not to hijack alstairs thread, but maybe discuss with the wife first. Radical changes can have a negative affect. She wouldn't lop off her hair without consulting you would she? If so then I guess go for it.

First, you need to get out of the frame of mind that there would be anything unusual about it! You need to scoff at any hint that anyone wants to talk about your lack of leg hair... Think of these silly beer commercials where the guy is a man because he has chest hair and drinks beer... you want that guy's inner piece...he would figure out how to wear shaved legs with a badge of honor. Its all attitude.
But, maybe you are better off just doing it today because if you come home from your trip she might really wonder what went on there. When she gets home you tell her...check this out! So smooth! No explaination...just say you always wondered what it felt like because you see weightlifters, bikers, just about any guy doing it... then a day later ask her advice on how to get rid of the itching!

I think it really depends on how long, and how dark, the hair on your legs are. My hair would not grow back long enough that my SO would not see the difference in 30 days. But, if you hair is lighter, and not that noticeable, you would probably be okay after 30 days. But, you would only have that first day, and the rest so the time you'll have to let it get growing.
Jaymees22
02-19-2013, 02:19 PM
I think it all depends on how hairy your legs are. Mine aren't too hairy so when I shaved them no one noticed. The nether regions seem to grow back fast, so maybe a trim would work for you. You could also come home with some bicycle magazines to leave around (haha)...Hugs Jaymee

Not to influence your deciscion but during my denial days I experimented and shaved below my knees just to try it out. 10 minutes later I shaved all of my legs, and after that there was no way I was ever going back to having hairy legs, closet or not. Go ahead and shave them and just use a "mid-life crisis" excuse. Some middle aged guys buy a corvette, some get tattoos, some buy a Harley, some shave their head, and some shave their legs. It's completley normal and nothing to be concerned about.

Congrats, AltairaMorbius! You finally did it.
I imagine you in an ecstasy wearing sheer and sexy pantyhose/stockings.
Maybe you would feel the amazing difference before and after shaving your leg hair.
For me, I epilate my leg hair using an electrolytic epilator for more than ten years, and my hairy legs changed into smooth legs with almost no hair.
I keep my legs smooth by epilating them every month, and I cannot go back to the time when my legs were hairy.
Again, I wish you would enjoy your smooth and sexy legs in gorgeous pantyhose.

Always shave, its say its cleaner and looks far better. Having legs with all the hair doesn't look very good when in a dress. You should not be concerned about anyone knowing that you shave, theres many guys that don't crossdress and do it.

Do you plan to wear hose while gone? If so this is a no brainer. Oh and keep it up after you get back. Tell the SO you decided to try it to see if you'd like the feeling of being hairless down there. I'll bet she will like you that way. Three ladies I went out with before I met my wife did like it. Only one didn't and she was a looser anyway. You won't like the itcheys later but you will like the felling of having no hair on your legs and nither regions.

I think you should go for it unless you're extremely hairy. If not the wife will never notice it. I shave all but my legs as wife is OK with it but not the legs. However, I do keep the hair on my legs extremely short and have done that over a period of time so she hasn't even noticed. This hair is now short enough so when I wear sheer nylons that matted hair look doesn't show. So as all the gurls have said here "go for it" have fun and tell us once you do it how it went and whether you're going to keep them shaved. God, this hits a nerve. I am closeted and not out to my wife. I shave my nether region, have for some time so that is all perfectly natural. I also shave my chest, long story how that came about. But my legs. I long to shave them as it is the only area that keeps me from being pretty passable, aside from my height. I wear fish nets mostly which hides the hair, but I long to have smooth legs. It is especially true in the summer as black fishnets just don't work.

Here is part of the original post:

Anyone who is or has been married should know that just up and shaving your legs without discussing it with your wife is a bad idea, especially if she doesn't know you are a crossdresser.
Now go out of town for 30 days and come back with your legs shaved and she's going to wonder what went on during those 30 days. In her mind it may be something worse than crossdressing.

Don't believe the cheerleaders here. You in no way will be back to normal hair length in 30 day. I have a lot of body hair and it grows really fast and in 30 days I have enough that someone who never knew me might not know, maybe, but my wife? She knows and I know. It takes me 75 to 90 days to come close to a untrimmed look.
That said I shave my legs year round (every day) and I shave my chest and arm hair (everyday) from May through October.

What's worse? Giving bad advice, or taking bad advice from random anonymous people?
Just saying...

Absolutely! Shaving your legs and wearing polish on your toenails will make you feel so much more ladylike. Since I embraced full womanhood a couple of years ago, I do full body shaves on a regular basis. Nylon panties and nylons in general also feel so much better when you are smooth and clean shaven.

If you can't shave your legs, you could try wearing two layers of good pantyhose. Though dark hair will still almost always show through.
But if you can shave, it usually grows back in about 12-16 days depending on the person.

It gives everybody a voice without the need to be accountable.
Accountable to whom? Exactly how does everyone who recommended to shave to the OP demonstrate their accountability? Kind of a ridiculous statement.
If you ask advice especially on a CD specific web site you are going to get an answer. (and count me among the guilty in post #2) Don't want an answer? ... then don't ask the question.
I think whenever this comes up it is a bit ridiculous in a relationship. Someone needs permission from their spouse to shave their own legs? Does she in turn request permission from him when she wants to change her hairstyle or change the color of her lipstick? My wife only says this about CDing, " it's your body and you have to live with the consequences of your actions."

I allow my wife to mostly do whatever she wants to herself. I've asked her to not get a really, really short haircut, because I don't think its very flattering to her. I didn't tell her not to do that - just expressed an opinion.
Apparently, though, I don't have similar freedom.

2nd to Taylor 186.... 30 days may not be enough.
I shaved me legs for the 1st time on Dec 23. Today ~9 weeks later I still look like a plucked chicken. Individual hairs are ~5/8"s long but the volume isn't there*. Here in the desert shorts season is but a few weeks away and I interact with teenage girls to worry about :-(
The hosiery experience didn't meet expectations, but still I desire to reshave them every day!
*then again I'm ~50-ish and the testosterone levels aren't what they used to be...

Not to hijack alstairs thread, but maybe discuss with the wife first. Radical changes can have a negative affect. She wouldn't lop off her hair without consulting you would she? If so then I guess go for it.
this is probably good advice. i was shaving about once a month when i met my previous SO. but, had stopped when we met and dated. i also went back to wearing boxers for a time. then, she discovered a pair of ladies' undies. obviously, i wasn't having an affair.. because they were mine. lol. but, it took a very serious discussion, and me showing her the "rest of my closet" and pics of my dressed self to earn back the trust. luckily, for me, she was accepting of it. another conversation about it turned to shaving, and i told her that i preferred shaved legs - especially, in part, due to the hassle of having to do a complete manscape prior to a dressing session. but, it also felt good to me, and made me feel better about myself. AND, it does feel amazing to rub my shaved legs against her's. from then on, i keep them smooth... almost all the time. i get lazy every once in a while... but i think that is normal for many of us (and GGs, too- for a while during finals, i think her leg her was outgrowing mine). and, as far as the public is concerned. i've only had one person comment about me having shaved legs while in drab (my sister) - and i like to wear shorts. i have seen people look, but oh well, male bicyclists and swimmers have shaved legs too. so do big burly biker and gangster type guys just before and after getting a tattoo... there are all sorts of ways to trick your mind into believing a man with shaved body parts is taboo... but there are just as many counters to those negative thoughts, too. only you can decide if its what you want to do to feel good about yourself, or if its not that important. and, your SO, may not agree 100% with your choice, but i do believe you have a duty to at least include her in that discussion/decision.

Should you shave your legs? Well yes, of course you should. Funny question.

I see there are already 70+ responses to this thread. I am going to save myself time, and not read one of them. Because in the end, this issue on this forum always boils down to those who want to, but are too afraid to, and those who are over it, and do their thing.
It's your body. It's your life. It's your decision.
How bad do you want it? How bad do you need it? What difference will it make in your quality of life?
I used to think it was a huge deal. I have since learned otherwise. It ain't no big deal at all. Most do not notice, and fewer do not care. BUT, I certainly felt much, much better about myself keeping my body hair-free.
As far as we know, we have only one life. Do yourself a favor, and make the decision that best suits you and your needs, whatever they may be. Just know that fear inflates and exaggerates ten-fold the actually reality of it.
Just shave them, it feels amazing, the softness of the skin.

I say go for it. I used to shave my legs because I was a cyclist - although within mountain biking circles I still caught a bit a slack for it. I dont really ride too much anymore, and still get the odd comment about having smooth legs. I just reply with "if your legs looked as good as mine you would do the same" that ussually gets a laugh. Also I have a decent sized tattoo on my right calf, which doesnt look as good when covered up by hair haha

Thanks Anne, I knew that if I kept reading, that eventually I would find the reply I most agreed with.......Darla G was a close second.

I keep legs and nether smooth. I shave the nether and epilate the legs and chest. You want to use a nice shave lotion such as Neutrogena Sensitive Skin. This lubricats, conditions and helps prevent ingrown hairs. I also find that using ample hair conditioner on the nether as it grows back helps soften the stubble. I get a slight itch for a day or two but then it goes away.
I do not know about your sex life with your wife, but shaving the nether is great for oral. In both cases, it feels great, you will love it. If you like it, shave the nether after you get back again and tell your wife, I have a surprise for you (a la American Wedding) See how she reacts, if she doesn't like it grow it back, if she does or at least accepts it, let her know how goood you think if feels and suggest experimenting further. Enjoy and good luck.
