What a great week this has been!
On Monday I wore my calf length black velvet skirt. It is a pencil skirt with a few pleats around the hem. They swish when I walk, so feminine. On top I had a pink blouse with black piping accents around the neck and at the pocket tops. Black calf length boots with 2 ½” heels were easy for walking. Under that every shaping item known to womankind. Makeup, wig, glasses, eyelashes, jewelry, false nails, I was really put together. Looking in my mirror, I felt so at peace with myself and pretty. Then I had my favorite black shiny faux fur coat that goes down to my ankles. I feel like a goddess when I wear that. It is the most luxurious thing that I have ever owned or felt.
I met with two lovely people who have a history in the movement in West Michigan. Two sweethearts who had the kindness to bring me up to speed on what has worked and what hasn’t. I am forming a Social and Support group in Grand Rapids, Mi. The first meeting is April 11th from 5:30 to 6:30pm for anyone and 6:45pm for a ladies only closed meeting. Facilities are available for dressing and afterwards (sigh) returning to guy. The people I met with had a lot of good information. Afterwards I met with another girl who frequents the resale shops and has become an expert. A walking commentary of all the local resale shop inventory. With her I purchased a second hand pair of red patent peep toe pumps with low heels and black accents and a second hand red purse for eleven bucks. Then on my own I hit Burlington Coat and Shoe Carnival where I found the absolutely cutest white low heel pumps with black accents - sort of like wing tips or saddle shoes. Cute! AND a pair of brown flat boots that will be perfect with skinny jeans or a sweater dress and leggings! PLUS they were cheap!
On Thursday I again wore everything like Monday but with a twist. I was prepared.
I met with a girl who has been dressing for a long time. We had a late lunch. She had fears about trying on women’s clothes even though she was enfemme. So I went along as her courage. At a Salvation Army store I found the absolutely greatest women’s skit suit, red and black houndstooth(?) but I was unable to buy it, she who hesitates is lost. My companion was so excited, she grabbed it and marched in to the dressing room wearing booties, a skirt that was too short, and a pink sweater that would have looked great had she just made a better bottom half choice. When she came out I was shocked! She went from inappropriate to just right, a transformation. I told her she looked fabulous, a big mistake. should have checked the fit first. Although the jacket was perfect, the skirt was too small. She could not zip it up all the way. But the die was cast, “fabulous” cemented it. She looked much more attractive, and certainly more passable. Although the suit would have fit me better and she has some mandatory alterations to make it fit her, I didn’t want to break the spell. Maybe she will decide that altering it is too much work or cost and sell it to me. We then hit Shoe Carnival and Burlington Coat where she confessed that without me she would be nervous. Everyone is at least a little nervous, that is part of the fun. But if you do enough work and get close to looking right, and pass, the need to be nervous is greatly reduced. And this is such fun!
So we were in the parking lot and she had to leave. I needed to go on and check out a potential site for a Ladies Night Out I am planning (in addition to the twice monthly Social and Support group). It was evening and I needed something a little more flirty than the long skirt, calf boots, and tights. For the twist, I had black stockings on under the fleece tights. In the parking lot, shielded by my car and her car, I swapped the skirt for a just above knee length black patterned skirt, pulled the fleece tights off, and put on two strap 2 ½” Mary Janes. Then it was off for a review of the clubs. I got home about 10:00pm. Another day out enfemme! I am having such fun!
So if you want to connect with some other like minded girls, PM me and get the info. It is happening in Grand Rapids, twice monthly. Starting April 11th and also April 15th at the Network. Google it.
So get out there and add some class to the scenery!
