I went to a white party here in Ontario last summer. I was told that ladies would be wearing hats and long dresses, and guys either white suits, or tails and top hat. I bought a petticoated white eyelet dress, lace gloves, and a white sun hat, very gone with the wind. I worried all the way there that I would be over dressed. The party was in the middle of a field, in a tent with a wooden floor. Girls that had been there before knew to wear sneakers across the field, and change into party shoes in the tent. Anyway, my heels sunk into the sod, and after a few steps, I took off my shoes, held up my dress and made my way. The other women there were dressed to the nines, some even with parasols! There must have been millions of dollars worth of jewellery, and some of the dresses ran into 4 figures. A great time was had by all, and over $100,000 was raised for the cancer society.
