If society allowed men to wear dresses in public would you and how often?

If it were widely accepted in our society, yes I would and probably most of the time as they are far more comfortable than slacks or jeans.

Every day I'd wear a dress or a skirt. I guess on some of the colder days I might wear a nice feminine pair of jeans or pants but always with heels. :)

Really depends if I'd shaved my legs, and of course I'd managed to find a pair of tights that weren't laddered... About as much as now then really... lol... and that's, oh, about 170 days per annum :)

Everyday, I often get dressed to go for breakfast only to have to change to go to work, and then change again when I get home, it would be great to be able to dress for work in a smart skirt and shoes, nice blouse.

Speaking strictly from a syle point of view? All things equal? If dresses were acceptable attire for men, I'd probably wear one rather often, at least at first. I like wearing dresses. But I won't say that I'd wear one every day.
When the dam bursts, a lot of water tends to flow all at once. Once the flood subsides, the water is still there, but only at a trickle. Look at GGs, they can wear dresses all they want. But they don't do it every day. If wearing dresses was the same for men and women, we all would no doubt fall into about the same percentages as far as the frequency of wearing the clothing we do. So every day? I very much doubt it.
Wearing dresses for women is a lot like wearing a coat and tie for a man. Hey, you look good, and you know you look good. But do you go out of your way to do it? Not likely. Women probably notice when you wear a coat and tie. They probably like it. Do you do it often? Not likely. It's the same for women and dresses. They like wearing them on occasion, but they don't go out of their way to do it a whole lot.
If wearing them was suddenly okay for guys, we'd all be wearing dresses almost every day for a while, until the novelty wore off. If wearing them was okay for guys and had always been, they would be just another thing to wear, and nothing real special. I'd bet that most of us would toss one on occasionally, but not with any greater frequency than most women do now.

Yes I would probably wear female clothes most days. It would really be nice to feel better about how I looked. I enjoy the makeup and pretty clothes.

Dresses -- maybe once a week and if I was going on out a special occassion. Skirt & top -- a couple of times a week. Pants & top -- the rest of the time.

Yes I would and as often as reasonably possible. The nature of my work (construction) wouldn't allow it but away from work you would most likely find me in a skirt or dress.

If skirts and dresses were also the norm for guys, I would wear one as much as possible, probably more skirts than dresses.
I find that skirts are more comfortable and less restrictive than pants or slacks.
Given that, due to the nature of my summer work, then I would have to wear slacks or jeans, as i am crawling under equipment, climbing ladders etc, so a skirt or dress would not fit in or be functional.
I would dress for the activity or place I would be, and wear skirts as much as possible.
Some day, this might come to pass same as guys wearing ear rings

There is already a society that actually expects men to wear dresses every day. Be careful what you wish for.....

Good question Joanne. Depends on the weather I guess. But if I were godess of this world the temperature would be a constant 73 degrees. Because I prefer dresses/skirts and I have so many of them. And I like to show my legs. Kisses, Darlena :rose2: He ain't Harvey...he's my sisterhttp://www.crossdressers.com/forums/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=282106

Would I? Yes indeed. I havne't worn a dress, but I wear skirts and stockings all the time. Probably 90% of the time I am in my home.
How often? As often as my wardrobe allowed. Probably all the time.

Good question Joanne and a lot of good points made girls.
Would it be just dresses and skirts or the whole shebang? I like all the accessories too, makeup, jewelry, heels, nail polish and of course pretty underwear!
Just as some GG's wear skirts and makeup more than others I think I would be the sort to wear skirts as as often as practical. If all else was OK too I would have a hard time going back to drab - I know this from experience!
If my job prohibited me wearing a dress I would retrain!
How do we help this situation to arise?

I would definatly wear dresses, but most probally, I would be in a skirt and heels as often as I could.

Of course! My wife has already figured this much out about me; she knows I would be wearing miniskirts, heels, and hose every day and night. It really puzzles her, since I can't stand getting dressed up as a man.
This has been a fantasy of mine for decades, being able to wear anything, anytime, anywhere!

Skirts, dresses, dress pants, cocktail dresses, long gowns, slacks, jumpers, capris(I love capri pants!) and jeans. Whatever the occasion or weather calls for. Send me an email when it happens gals. I'll be waiting by my computer! Hugs

I would wear a dress at least once a week with high heels and make-up. I would try to look as feminine as posible and either go shopping for female clothes or eat in a good restaurant with my SO.

skirts and flare jeans....... not a big dress person...... i do love tighter clothing..... panties are a definite...... dunno bout a bra 24/7 unless i needed to (kinda do)..... but let's be honest bra's arent very comfy...... probably flip flops most of the time but id love to be able to wear 3" heeled boots or something...... to be honest i think they are more attractive on guys than regular dress shoes anyways.... they arent the most comfortable thing but everybody has to admit..... they look good on either men or women when dressed up........ if you've never seen em on a guy that is in drab dressed up just dress up kind of nice in male mode and put some on with jeans.... they look better.... ok imma stop rambling now.....

So are we talking about basically a guy wearing a dress as A GUY, no makeup, no wig, no jewelry? Or the acceptance of TG as such?
Personally, without the whole package, I don't think it has the same appeal, since you are not looking like a woman, wouldn't feel fem, etc.
However, having said that, since I enjoy skirts and dresses with hose and heels, I might do it anyway, just for fun, but probably not to work.
my 2 cents,

YES! YES! YES! A nice knee length pleated or A Line grey or navy skirt or bottle green skirt, or sometimes a denim skirt. A little black dress, velvet, for dining out etc.
If it were accepted, I would be able to go outside in what I was wearing at the time, as I a skirt inside most of the time, now. It would be skirts most all the time for me.

Not likely--dresses/skirts have never been particularly physically comfortable to me (I don't like the feeling of "looseness" between my legs)--much prefer tight (in the crotch) pants and jeans. I don't wear anything else these days other than flared jeans and pants, mostly purchased from alloy.com, the now defunct gfla.com, and delias.com. I don't "present" as a woman, and nobody has had any negative reactions (although many positives, from both genders). If I were to wear something very overtly feminine, assuming that it was socially acceptable, bearing in mind that most of the "thrill" of the forbidded would be gone, it would be either sexy (and very obviously) back zipper pants, or, if a "dress" is required, an oriental Cheong Sam.

24/7. Eh, actually that's what I'm already doing... :D
I sleep in nightgown, wear panties all the day-time and if I think of it - I have no men's wear at all. I wear girl's jeans, girl's Ts, girl's sweathers.. And I'm corseted under all of it. So, my question is - why don't you do the same? All the time... ;)
Only wig and make-up could make me "complete".

Yes as much as possible, but I would also try to learn from GG's. They addept there clothing to the moment of the day, and that's very practicle. Cutting the grass in a miniskirt is'nt.

Women probably notice when you wear a coat and tie. They probably like it. Do you do it often? Not likely. It's the same for women and dresses.
Well two things. Women wear pants quite often, But they are Women's pants. So would we be talking about men's skirts and dresses? They would probably not be feminine, then.
I am the type to dress up rather than down. I don't, nor have I ever, owned a pair of jeans. I think they look awful. For many years, even thought "business casual" was the rule, I wore a business suit to work. I no longer do that, for a couple of reasons.
1) In my type of work, I dress as most of my customers and clients dress. So when I'm working at a company where everyone wears business attire, I wear a suit. If they are business casual, I wear business casual. If, God forbid, I had a client where everyone wore jeans, I'd have to buy some jeans and wear them. Actually, I'd probably subcontact the account to some jeans wearing type! :) If my client all dressed in a feminine manner, then I'd probably do the same, if that was their preference. ;)
2) I'm small. They don't make a lot of suits for men in my size, so my suits are all custom made. One tends not to to buy and wear $2,000 suits without a pretty good reason.
If it were OK for men to dress in men's skirts, I'd probably wear them. If it were OK for men to dress and appear feminine, I'd probably do that a lot, too. Since I prefer makeup and such to just skirts, I'd enjoy looking feminine much more than just wearing a skirt or dress. Makeup is so much fun because one can be so creative, especially with eye makeup. Lots of opportunity for expression without having to wear a lot of makeup and look "cheap."
Warm regards,
Christina Nicole
