After a long hiatus from getting fully dolled up, I felt today was the day to do it. A little out of practice uh, make that a lot out of practice with the makeup but oh well that will improve.

The real shocker was seeing the mature woman looking back at me. Eeeekkkk, it was someone who looked a lot like my.... mother

So now I have to get past that. Anyone else run into the same thing and how do you get past it?

I ran into this on Sunday. I was looking at some 25 year old pictures that contained my mom and my daughter pointed out they look exactly like me...down to the hair.

I do not think i look like my mother but she had her own saloon and was always totally made up and dressed to the tee when she was in public, hair, makeup and what she was wearing. I find that i am same way and even when i was prenting to be a male always was dressed and was very aware how i looked. Now in trans i am really over board at times i think it is like i have to be perfect. I pass very well c cups and get nice looks from men all the time hrt has been very good to me to look femy but i guess maybe if you feel that way you look that way. However ladies tell me all the time that i pass very well. But i am sure my mother whom i lost year ago would be proud of how i dress and make myself up. She was very aware what was going on with me me before she passed but told me she was just as proud to have me as daughter as she was as a son. She even told me that she was pretty sure that i had gender problem even when i was young as i related to girls better than boys . So i guess that any of you that are i our world maybe you mother might know morev than you think. Also my sister told me we really look like sisters and she is great support also. Love you all marianne

When we start this journey we would like to think that we will look like an 18 year old girl because we are for the first time experiencing womanhood. The truth in the mirror will show if we started in our mid 50's then we need to look at women of that age to gauge what we may look like. I for one would love to look like my mom all the way to her 80's.

I have always looked like my Mom, facial features and hair mainly. What got me is when I got my female voice working, I sound like her, down to the laugh.........Stephanie

I have a print of my dear Gram from back when she was a flapper in the 1920's on the wall right beside one of her in the 1960's when she was right around my age right now. OMG! The flapper's the one I wish I looked like, and the other one is what I DO look like that looks back at me in the mirror. I love her so much in both those photos, young and old, and I'm learning to love myself that way now. I think we all might hope to love our dear selves that way, age, wrinkles, and all. Smile right back at "her!" Xoxox, Danni

Isn't it wonderful that we can look like either our father or mother. I was amazed when I finally got my makeup somewhat right and walla....my mom:)

Hi MysticLady
That's a great one. Certainly a wonderful feeling. When I saw my first transformation, I couldn't even recognize myself. It blew me away. I couldnt get the smile off my face. So I know what you mean when you talk about that amazing feeling. I only recently started doing my own makeup. It's still a work in progress and it's starting to make more sense. I love the feeling of the transformation. Now when I do my own makeup my excitement grows every step of the way. When finally I put on the wig, the transformation is complete and I just want to shake my ass and dance and pump my hips. It's awesome.

When I was younger, I just saw my appearance going down hill, until I put a positive spin on the process.
It is difficult to see that you are not the drop dead gorgeous chick that you felt you were ten years before.
You start to think of those missed opportunities also.

I woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and saw my mother looking back at me. I immediately called the doctor and made an appointment for FFS.

I was in a changing room trying on a top and it was one of those rooms with angled mirrors, I looked into it to admire the top but due to the angles of the mirrors saw my Mothers silhouette, "agh I look like my Mother" needless to say I did not buy the top.

A few weeks later I was having lunch at my Mothers and I took our picture together, " wow you like me 30 years ago" she exclaimed, an amazing Women is my Mother who accepts me as me.

For me, it is shocking to see all the wrinkles, bumps, and facial imperfections. FFS would help a little, I think.

A few years ago when working through my feelings with my wife I dressed up and used a long hair wig and we took some photos. Well I looked exactly like my sister. The wife said don't let your parents see this photo as my sister had passed in a motorcycle accident a few years earlier. It is however a compliment as she had always been a pretty woman.

Awhile back I got dressed one evening and my wife remarked that I looked a lot like my mother. I replied that there was probably a good genetic reason for that. Oh well, the SI-swimsuit model look is ever out of reach but I can at least look reasonably fem.

Getting older with grace,
