View Full Version : Trying To FInd Tights

I never imagined heavy tights would be so hard to find. I checked two stores tonight after work, and neither carries them. Other than the obvious reasons for wearing them, I ride a bicycle everywhere and my legs are freezing.

I called mom when I got home and she suggested I call the local dance studio to find out who sells them. They directed me to a place a couple towns over. Mom also said she thought she might have a pair laying around, but if not she'll run me over there after work tomorrow. :)

She doesn't know about CDing, but she understands the need to keep legs warm when cycling and agrees tights would be the way to go.

Edit: I should add that while wandering around the ladies intimates in Wal Mart I asked this nice woman if she had idea if they sold tights and where I might find them. I even explained, pointing to my cycling helmet, that I needed them for myself to keep the legs warm. She happily took me around looking for them, and asked a salesperson if they had them. She suggested another store to try, but alas, they didn't have them either. Was kinda fun having her help me look for them though.

I've bought them from www.danskin.com (http://www.danskin.com) and http://www.welovecolors.com/ The down side is it can get costly. I alsot vought from www.ebay.com (http://www.ebay.com) also.

Thanks, :) The place in the other town sells danskins and a few other brands. Ummm, how costly are we talking here?

I wear "plus size" from Danskin (2x) and they are 14-15 dollars each. Welovecolors run about 12 dollars each for plus size.
Ebay can have much better deals though.

Try QVC, the Legacy Legwear microfiber tights. These may not be as thick as you are looking for, but they are nice tights, nonetheless. :)

Another website, Shapings.com, has just about every type of legwear made. Kind of pricey, but some GREAT pictures...especially the 'alternative view' link on most of the product pages.

You should be able to fine Just My Size tights just about anywhere.

Usally they are with the socks and pantyhose. (of course)

15 bucks isn't bad. Worth it.

Roberta, that's what I thought too, but no luck.

Mom just called and said she found the pair she thought she still had, getting ready to go over and pick them up along with some baking dishes and other kitchenwear she has for me.

Target has Cherokee brand tights that are really quite nice. I like the tan ones instead of nude hose as they cover completely. Good Luck!

Good luck, and if you find them please share!

I have been looking for thick, ribbed, knit tights (pref. cotton) for about a year now, with no luck...

Mom actually had two pairs. One black, and one hot pink/black stripes. She said "nobody is going to see them". Neither is nearly as thick as I wanted so will still be making the trip to the dance store tomorrow, but I love the hot pink ones. Sadly they have a hole in them so probably won't last long.

I found some nice tights at Target. Can't remember the brand, my wife just emptied the trash that had the wrapper in. I wear 3X, but they come up almost to my bra! But the legs feel sooooooooooooooooooooooo good! And they aren't very expensive either. Also, they are tight enough to help with tucking.

Thanks for all the suggestions girls. Although the choices of stores around here is somewhat limited, I am sure I'll find something. I am hoping the dance store will have something suitable. If not, I'll have to travel a bit and check out some of the stores mentioned here.

I was in Old navy ove the weekend and they have a nice selection of thicker tights.

I would say any larger depratment store would stock themn at this time of the year.

That's what I thought Emma. I checked Wal Mart, and Bealls, neither carries them here. Probably just have to go to a larger town.

Hanna Andersson (http://www.hannaandersson.com) has thicker ribbed tights that fit very nicely. (I have mine on right now with a matching T! ) Also, try Kids Fashion Brokers (http://www.kidsfashionbrokers.com) for great Danish tights! Both offer solid colours and some very bright colours. I have ordered from both and am very happy. I do love my tights!

Happy holidays to all you elves in tights :p

I live in Canada, and we here need such garments on regular basis. I have medical problem so I wear them anyhow during the winter and hardly consider them CDing at all. Just have been cleaning snow around the house and I have them on right now. So if you explain to me what you are exactly looking for I can possibly buy some for you and send them over. They are common item here and not expensive at all.

For Example (just site that allows online shopping but we can find them here in virtually every clothing store): http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/search.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&verticalFullName=Clothing&keyword=tights&displayTarget=searchresults&gobutton.x=0&gobutton.y=0&gobutton=find

I just got back from the dance supply store. The cute sales girl was very helpful selecting some tights to fit me. I bought two pairs at ten dollars each. They fit well and look great. So comfy too.

I'll definately be back for more.
