I know what you're looking for, but from my own experience, the best way to tell her why you do what you do is if you do it yourself.

When I came out to my GF, I had her read some online stories (you'll find the right ones for you), but in the end, she said simply, "I don't really care that much about others, just you." Made me think a lot about how to explain things, but it was better for her.

For the record, she has a "tell me, don't show me policy."
