I am about a month post-op on my FFS today, I have not presented as male since three days before my surgery. I have traveled and done just about everything I normally do, living my life as any other woman of my age. I spent a week at Disney World, the folks there were great. I have been back at work for a week now. My point to all of this. I have not had a single major issue anywhere regarding my transition. Everyone at work has been wonderful. I have gotten lots of welcome back comments, folks asking if I am feeling OK, and a few discussions of the technical aspects of the surgery (since that is what I do). I have also received a lot of compliments on how I look, which is gratifying. Some of the dynamics with my friends have changed, I talk more to some and less to others than I used to, but no negative comments. The only issues I have had are with my voice and a few with names. I still need a lot of work with my voice when there are no other gender cues, like on the phone, etc. The issue with names is that folks at work have known me in male mode for many years, it is taking them some time to remember to use my new name. I take this in stride, it is not done out of spite, just an honest part of the change. I realize that every situation is unique, but I also thought I was going to have a lot more problems than I have. So, if you are contemplating transition, do as I did, plan for the worst, hope for the best, and it should work out well...........Stephanie

I'm very glad to hear that you're back at work and the social part of transition is going so well. Your experience thus far demonstrates that people have the potential to be quite understanding and accepting.

Well , I have to say that's pretty amazing. Cause as a Texan myself. I do know the attitudes here and your very lucky. you must live a pretty big town and work for a good company. I use to work for a big company here and well we had a girl transitioning and the supervisor came around and had a talk with each and everyone of us personally. The only issue that ever came up was the bathroom situation. Girls wouldn't have it until, until she had her operation. So she had to use the unisex/handicap friendly bathroom in the back of the building. I left before her operation, so do know how it worked out after that. I was curious for obvious reasons. But did not want anyone to know, cause I am king of the rednecks. LOL. But I was able to defend her decision and change a few attitudes towards her. But still some are just gonna have the redneck attitude and never change. But as the people were amazed at my decision to defend her, which I caught a lot crap over. I on the other hand was most awed by some that I also believed would not be accepting that was and vice versa. But only very very few had a truly negative attitude. Most small towns are still very bad for us though even towards people of different ethnic groups. I am very glad for you. I don't know that I will ever do what you are doing though, still have not made up my mind as what I TRULY want to do. I still like being 50-50. But you have my support anytime you wanna chat. And I am real happy that it is going smoothly, hoping that by the time some jerk gives ya trouble. You will be so confident you can land right in the middle of them. If not already, Just saying. Well good luck and maybe some day everything is running smooth you can tell the rest of us, how great it is and how you became successful. Looking forward to it.

I can only say that your avatar really looks impressive, but I haven't seen enough. Please post more pictures of the results of your FFS. I'm thinking. Hmmm. Well, that you may have a really good FFS doctor.
