I've never been really sure if i'm TG or just a CD, in fact this is my first day in this section of the forum. I don't think i'd ever fully transition adn get surgery however I just know i'm not fully happy where Im at now. I've been told I should see a gender therapist. I'm partially agreeing but not sure what to expect when i go for a first appointment. Also do most insurance companies cover this? I emailed 2 different therapists and they said they dont take insurance but some companies will reimburse them.

My first visit to my therapist was us getting to know each other , to see if it was a good fit for me. It has helped me more that I can tell you.
Some insurance company's cove it and some don't.

insurance generally covers therapist appointments..if your therapist takes it...
also your therapist should know enough to use a diagnosis of "anxiety" or some other common issue that may be part of your problem...they shouldnt be putting "gender therapy" on the submission..

Even if your therapist doesn't take insurance mine used a sliding scale fee structure based on income, thanks to this my therapy was only $30 a session, something to ask about

I am a therapist and I could give you phone counseling if you're interested? It comes down to spending as much time as possible dressed and presenting female. There's lots of issues to deal with. I know it's complicated and confusing. Send me something privately if you want to. In the mean time; keep that inner process going. Time will give you the answers.

I will not hurt to see a therapist. I am gladly willing to pay out of pocket myself. It is better than flailing around with no direction and no goals wondering where to go and what to do next.
My insurance covered one therapist I went to but she referred me to another one and that one does not accept insurance. I still go and I pay.

My insurance has a mental health portion: that covered a few therapy sessions, enough to help determine if I needed/wanted more. I did, and insurance covered that...under a different portion of the insurance.
If you have an insurance that covers domestic problems, suicide urges, etc, it may cover some initial sessions.
