View Full Version : Things not to do with estradiol tablets

Just a little list of a few things that I have managed to do…

Forget to take them – happens all the time

Let my supply run down, or run out, and have to run to the pharmacy at the last second

Leave the day's tablet wherever – on the counter, on the side table, in the dashboard tray in the car, etc. This usually happens because I put out my pills for the day, take several, but wait until I've eaten until taking the estradiol.

Shake the prescription bottle to see how many are left - breaks the little suckers…

But worst of all is leaving one on your laptop and then absentmindedly closing the lid – thereby neatly crushing the tablet in your computer…. I am now anxiously awaiting what new characteristics my computer will acquire. I'll keep you posted.

Hmmm, wonder if the keys will begin to lose their little depression, and develop a more rounded feature?

I've done these two so much it's insane. I went to a theme park yesterday all day and left my baggy of pills on the counter

They make estradiol patches. Simply apply them on your skin somewhere and leave in place for 3-4 days. They are made in various dosage levels too, so regardless of what level you take there are patches for that level.

Might be your subconscious talking!

Seriously, leave a glass of water on your night table and take them first thing after getting up.

Patches are expensive! Plus, I've seen what my wife goes through with them - coming off, glue residue, etc. each has their own issues, I guess.

Don't stop taking them if they are prescribed to you. I decided I didn't want to take them anymore and weaned off them for a couple of weeks and my emotional meltdown was not pretty. Yes I know... dumb idea but a few incidents made me angry enough to say screw it. Lesson learned in a hurry.

Oh and Lea don't give up on that crushed one maybe you can snort it or lick it off your computer lid.lol.

Injections are cheap - that's what I use. You just have to get past the idea of sticking yourself with a needle.

One pill on the key board should not be of concern. I do not think the keys will become sensitive from one pill.

One of the many reasons I like injections. Once a week takes little more than a few minutes and it is one less pill I have to remember.

It is possible that your laptop will begin to develop breasts. The good news is that many typists find "keyboard boobs" to make for more ergonomic typing, um and to be kind of fun. The downside is that the lid may become more difficult to close. The FtM forum probably has advice for that case. :p

Patches are expensive! Plus, I've seen what my wife goes through with them - coming off, glue residue, etc. each has their own issues, I guess.

As I search around the net, I'm not finding all that many places that list a price for the patches, but the few I do find are priced at about $US5 per patch. Checking my records, I see that I am currently paying about $C7 per patch including dispensing fee -- about $C60 per month for taking 2 patches at a time, twice a week. I do not have any information about prices for injections or pills.

I find that if I am going to have difficulty with patches coming off, most of the time it is due to my accidentally folding the patch onto itself as I put the patch on. I have, though, had a patch come off because I put it in just the wrong place so that it was rubbed by my underwear every time I moved around. I have also taken a couple off deliberately because I put them on the wrong set of muscles and they become too uncomfortable. The worst case, though, was when I tried the small of my back on a hot day: it literally fell off because of the sweat.

Glue residue is a nuisance. I have searched online and found a number of tips, but so far none of the ones I have tried have worked for me. I haven't tried all the suggestions; I was not enthusiastic about fetching the Naphtha from my garage, for example. So far the best I've found is to use a coal based soap (http://www.lushusa.com/Coalface/00233,en_US,pd.html), which still requires some "elbow grease" but not so much as to scrape the area raw like I would need to do with regular soap.

"Hey! You're not working -- you're just playing with the keyboard!"

Perhaps the keyboard would shriek, "Whoa Buster! You keep those cold hands off of me!" ?

Sandra, I take the glue residue off with acetone nail polish remover. Has to be acetone. The glue comes right off!

No, it's not my subconscious talking! I am quite happy to be on HRT! But I'm as absent-minded as they come…

I'll pass along the acetone tip to my wife for her patches. Thanks!

Acetone remover didn't work for me.

I use Solvoplast II to remove glue. It works just fine.

I would think that something like Goo-Gone or some similar product would also work. Goof Off is stronger but it can dissolve plastic, so probably isn't the best for your skin.

If you want to remove a sticky residue like glue try using cooking oil. Works a treat, especially with a bit of salt.

Solvopast is used in hospitals to remove glue residue.

My Rx issues me a 7-day patch. It's really handy and a simple part of my Saturday morning routine. Switch sides every week and the glue spots will wash off.

Lea,
I had the same problem when I was doing the patches.

Better check that little nubbie thing that is used as a cursor control...might notice some swelling behind the nubbie.

I have the same problem all the time with HRT doses as well as my vitamin D or biotin.

There is only so much that my puny brain can retain.

Or, at least some sexy curves...

Think Estrace powder will violate my Apple extended warranty? I'm pretty sure they don't have a sensor in there for that ... but wouldn't be surprised if there was, either.
