Hello All

Some of you may know that this past Saturday was my first time out en femme. Ashlyn and I went to a local scene and we had a blast. (Sorry, I had no camera and took no photos...DUH. I hope Ash took some) I drove, walked, stood and danced in 4 inch heels. I posted that thread earlier and got my heels on Friday. Now, I wish I hadn't:heehee:. Ash was in 6 inch heels. Let me tell you...... my calves and feet hurt that night in bed. Now I understand why some GG's hate the silly things. But my heels are gorgeous and I'll wear them again:heehee:. Next time I'm going in flats and a summer dress. I'll enjoy my femme time much more that way:). How many of you can withstand that self torture(:)) and not ache tremendously later. I guess I'm a wimp. Sorry.....:heehee:

Victoria,
You can look fabulous in three inch heels and feel no pain.
I have seen some wearing a belt and wearing flats, carrying their heels looped around the belt of whatever they have on.
Looks very inelegant, but practical.

I spent a good 10 hrs in heels on Saturday night. Mostly standing and moving about. By the end of the night they had carved a red ridge into my foot and it was quite swollen. A few of my GG mates commented they wished they could spend that long in heels. I was drinking, which helps make the pain disappear, but I love walking in heels. Doesnt matter how much my feet hurt it wont stop me!

That's great idea Beverly, I may try that. When your feet hurt, looking elegant is the last thing on my mind:heehee: Thanks.

My hair stylist used to look at my heels, corset, tattoos and piercings whenever I would walk in and say, "you really take the idea of 'beauty is pain' seriously, don't you?" It does get easier as you gain more practice in heels and find styles that are comfortable for you. That's why you need to buy a lot of shoes! The first long night out of the house with them is always a revelation, as you learn how much farther distances are outdoors and how many rough surfaces you encounter while out and about. I've been wearing heels whenever I could since I was twelve, and I'm just now getting to the point that I don't always pack a pair of backup sneakers when I go out for the evening. Practice is key!

But it sounds like you had a good time anyway, so maybe the pain was worth it.

If that was the first time out en femme and in four inch heels, I'd say your legs hurt because they are no use to abuse. There's a world of difference in walking around the home (maybe) on carpet than dancing for a long period of time. The various leg muscles and tendons need time to acclimate to an unnatural stance. I would also go with the recommendation that three inch heels are probably a wiser choice for prolong dance floor action.

Let me tell you Stephanie , I can actually feel those babies . That's all I feel.
I think I'm rubbing some Ben-Gay on my legs tonight. That's probably why I'm still up at this point. I'd be on my second set of dreams by now  Ouch....mmmm

There are a lot of ways to look more beautiful, none of them are comfortable ;)

I agree, heels are not comfortable. They either bunch your feet up in the toe box, or cause your calves to be sore because they are contracted for a lot longer than we're used to. Stretching your calves afterwards helps, as well as ibuprofen. Were you in Austin or San Antonio?

They were having CD/TG weekend at the club Saturday night, so I wore my 1" pumps as I knew I would be dancing all night. I also had a Spring skirt outfit on that was just right.Needless to say, I had a great night. The wise woman listens to her body my friend. :)

Good shoes make a huge difference. You may not need to get so tall..There are plenty of quality shoes that you can walk a mile in,if you have to,and not want to take them off. You'll learn!

First, all women do not wear high heeled shoes and most who do wear 3" or less. You can wear cute flats or low heels and look just fine. It's hard for me to understand why so many crossdressers seem to be so hung up on outlandish high heels.

Second, don't buy a pair of new shoes, especially high heels, and then walk out the door expecting to wear them for several hours. Wear them for around the house an hour each day for a couple days, then two hours for a couple days, etc. It takes a while for your feet and leggs to get used to a new style of shoe.

Congrats for trying MysticLady. Arthritis prevents me wearing heels although I'd love to be able to. Flats do have the advantage of making a femme walk more natural. I recently purchased shoes with 2" heels - like 6" to athritic ankles. Some practice ahead of us both.

How many of you can withstand that self torture(:)) and not ache tremendously later.

Me. But i wear them everyday for small amount of time while i clean house, there are muscles in the bottom of your feet and the back side of your calf that only get used when your foot is on an incline.

The reason i wear them a little everyday is to keep those muscles in tone and subjugated to my vanity.....not to mention balance training.

Hey Mystic you do realize since the Spurs won you have to be wearing the same thing and not change a routine. Can't take a chance on it the Grizzlies are tough. So take one for the team you n Ash should get tickets and go to the game enfemme I your exactly same attire. If they go into game seven my wife and I will be there on the first of June for the George Strait Last Concert Tour and she is begging me to stay thru the second of June to watch the Spurs. Bet tickets would be hard to get. Would try and meet you and Ashley but we will be with my two daughters and their husbands. We have a limo so we don't have to drive in the traffic from the motel to the concert and back to the motel, this country gal doesn't like traffic... Lol

Heels will take some time and practice. As others have stated, wear them often around the house to get them broken in and more comfortable. Also, I have found that some heels are far more comfortable than others. Quality shoes, while they may be more expensive, tend to feel much better.

The next thing to work on is you heeled posture, distribution and balance. If you walk like a guy in heels, not only does it look funny, but it also will cause you to have more pain. Hard to explain, but you need to walk like a GG. It helps a lot.

Drug stores sell "emergency shoes" in the foot section. They are flexible and designed to be carried in your purse. The last time I saw some, the package said something like "slip these on and keep on dancing."

Like Michelle arthritis has pretty much ended my spending time in heels. I still have a pair of 3” black pumps and on a good day during a good week I might get away with an hour or so before my knees scream surrender. I agree with Beverley in that a woman can look fabulous in 3” heels and it is amazing how much difference an inch can make. I never could wear 4” for very long but I could wear 3” heels for hours on end – might be one of the reasons I have a steel knee.

I worked in the IT Department of a large of a large Savings & Loan Corp., only then we were known as the Computer & Programming Department. Women made up about 40% of the work force and due to dress codes dresses skirts and suits (either pant suits or skirt suits) were called for. Most of the women felt that heels and stockings were called for when they had meetings with the heads of their client department. The 2” pumps outnumbered the 3” pumps probably 3 to 1 and literally all of the women that I worked with kept a few pair of comfortable flats, or low heeled shoes in their cubical. I only knew one woman that habitually wore heels all the time and she admitted that she even wore high heeled slippers around the house. She had worn heels full-time for so many years that it really hurt her to have to walk flat footed.

This is the same company that I went en femme to several company sponsored Halloween Parties, wearing heels of course. My immediate supervisor (female) came into my office and asked if in my quest to become female had I learned what just about every other female in the building knew – when sitting at your desk it is de rigueur to slip out of your pumps and give your feet a rest, besides stockinged feet felt really good on the carpeting.

I have to admit, and I may be one of the few on the forum who feels this way, but since high school I have thought that flats look sexy on girls. My problem is that I have one heck of a time finding a pair of flats that fit me. My toes are either bunched up and painful or I walk right out of them. My quest for a pair of flats has really increased now that I literally can’t wear heels.

Hi Victoria
Besides the pain I'll bet you and Ashlyn had a blast. Wish I could have joined you but I'm a little far away and off the beaten path. At any rate I've ordered a pair of heels on Amazon and I think they were 5 or 5 1/2 " heels, o well, they were too sexy to pass up and they had my size. I'm probably going to be sorry but will have fun around here. Glad you got out and tell Ash I say hi next time you see her LOL, got to run.....

MysticLady. I feel your pain - really. I went out for what was my first fairly long walk in a resort area over the weekend. Wore my favorite wedge sandals. The heels were only a couple of inches but I did roll my ankle a couple of times on rough pavement, and ended up with a wicked calf cramp and blisters from the straps. I'll get some flats for the longer walks but I'm not giving up on those wedges. Hope you had fun outside of the pain.

I agree. I wear flats ALL the time. I’ve never even attempted to wear heels of any height, simply because I get dizzy easily. To each her (or his) own, but I don’t understand the appeal of heels. Of course, I may be biased in this regard – if you’re male, and you happen to be perusing a glossy magazine with female erotic content, you will often see women wearing nothing but heels! I assume it’s supposed to make the legs, or feet, look better, but it just looks ridiculous to me. This opinion carries over to my own femme presentation. I’ll stick with the flats, thank you...

I often think that men's shoes are designed for men's comfort. Women's shoes are designed for men's enjoyment.
As I am starting to get a little older, it is difficult to stay in heels for very long. Out to dinner for a couple hours is fine (if most of the time I'm seated) , but an hour at the mall would kill me.

Find a pair of 3" wedges and wear those around the house, out walking to build up the arch and toe mounds. Walking will strengthen the calf muscle and shin sheath.

Even day to day Lori can usually be found in heels of some kind. But on a Saturday night out it will always be heels. The higher the beter! I have no trouble walking in them. And I feel naked without them!

Each heel is different. I have 3 inch heels that kill my feet after a couple hours, but my boots have 4inch heels and I can wear them all weekend. Just have to find a good pair for you.

These are fighting words in this part of the forum lol

I have never REALLY put my heels to the test but one time. I paid for it the next day as my legs were hurting for a couple of days afterwards but I have a lot of better, more comfortable, pairs now. plus they strengthened my legs and I am using muscles that I probably never would any other way. I'll stick to my heels ;)

Mystic, first off, shoes under 4" should be considered flats. I've got man boots with 3" heels! Yuck!

I don't dress very often and I'm over 60. So, why don't I have more problems wearing heels? Because every day I do stretching excersizes. Including my achiles, calves, and feet. I often get cramps during excersizes. But, keep relaxing and titening until I finish my stretches.

Finally, if I'm wearing hi heels that look good but hurt like hell, I've come to expect that! I know my feet will heal in a week or less if I wear my comfy man flats!

Hi Victoria, You must not have gotten the memo about that, No one ever said that being a lady was going to be EASY.

Sherry has it right anything less than 4" should be considered flats.

I have bought a few four inchers and i've tried to wear them but we just are not compatible. Two inch and flats are great. I spent a lot on a pair of gorgeous 3" boots this winter in a weak moment but I am determined to wear em some winter day with a long skirt. I love that look.

3 to 3.5" heels are my max. Had some 4 and 5's, but gave them away. Shattered both ankles in an accident years ago, and now they don't do well in the tall girls. I do love, love, love girly flats, though. Have all kinds with flowers, bows, and every flavor of bling possible.

I bought my first set of heels just a couple of months ago. On top of that, they were one size too small. The first time I put them on, I had them on for about five minutes and my feet hurt for about half an hour after. I thought I'd probably have to send them back. But in my size there were no other options in this style, and I mean -no- -other- -option-. So I kept them and wore them when dressing, practiced walking in them. And I put shoe trees in them to stretch them. After two months, they're quite comfortable, and I can walk in them fairly well, not that I've spent 10 hours in them. But I'm very happy I've kept them.

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be picking up any 6" heels. I'd be taller than Shaq - literally.

Heels did suck at 1st for me, still kind of do a little but as for the baby heels i can do those no problem haha i did find a pair boots that i love that i affectionately dubbed my hooker boots to some of my close co-workers who know im trans Stiletto heel and while there so sexy i couldnt resist buying them which for me id never spent 50 dollars on shoes in my life but i died and had to have them they were the sexiest most awesome decently priced thing could find lol ranting anyways. but i love heels i seem to be attracted to higher heels which still kill my feet but i gotta keep trucking :)

It takes time to build up the muscle tone to wear very high heels. I usually wear 3 in, but do have some 5 in ones that I love to wear, but yes, after a given time they become less comfortable. I can dance all night in 3 in, only a while in taller.

Hi Everybody.

I feel much better now. Yes, this was a learning experience but I wouldn't have changed a thing. My first time out en femme was wonderful. I just loved the way I felt when I first stepped out of my truck w/ everybody there. I'm sure I flashed them since it's habit for me to get out in guy mode. I just don't remember since I was so excited that evening. Next time like I said, I'll be in flats and a summer dress because that way I'll be able to visit the other places in the vicinity and not hurt. I agree w/ the statement that Heels were designed for men's pleasure and not women's comfort. Luckily some women can wear them like nothing and therefore they give us a beautiful sight. I just love my heels and will wear them again  but I will have a back up pair even if I have to take bunny slippers and wear them on the dance floor:heehee:.

You will find that it takes time to get used to heels, much like ice skates. If the shoes fit you well, they don't need to be uncomfortable. I have 3 or 4 favorite heels that I can wear for 10-12 hours with no problems. Most of my others start to get uncomfortable after a few hours or steady standing or walking. A good bet is Mary Jane styles. They have a wider heel so they are stable on multiple surfaces and the ankle strap keeps your feet from sliding around and getting friction burns on your soles. I don't always wear heels but I do love the look!

I just recently started wearing bras and they take getting used to but I just think that the overall feeling of these items is amazing I can't describe the feeling I get.

Honey I'm a GG and go to a party school. I used to do out in crazy high heels and dance all night, now it's all flats and sandals or wedges!! Wedges are the most comfortable heel I've ever worn. I actually got my BF to buy him self a pair and he LOVES them! But don't feel bad we hate the feeling of heels after a while too, but if you wear them enough it pays off because your legs get crazy definition and you bootay looks AMAZING!! give it one more try, maybe in some wedges :)

Surprised that nobody on this thread has mentioned platform heels. The platform under the whole shoe lifts you one to two inches, then a 2 to 3 inch heel under that and you get the long-legged look that heels are all about, without the pain of a five-inch stiletto. I have arthritis in my feet and hands, but I can wear a wedge or a platform sandal all day no problem. Platforms are great!

the taller the heal the better you calve will look.
but the pain level will go up.
try to get used to 2 1/2 - 3in heels first. but in a style that fits your feet correctly.
i have a pair of 2in heels that i just love and a pair in 3 in love them. but others hurt or do not fit right. i do have a pair with 4 in heels but get nose bleeds from the altitude, and headaches from hitting the door jambs. :-)

have fun being a woman.
