View Full Version : That time of year again...

So it seems like every year at about this time my boss decides to go off on an excursion for however long it takes, and leaves me to the day to day running of the business, and as I am the only employee (other than the boss and his fiance who are both on a business trip) there is no one to complain about what I wear or do!
Thats right... a whole week of me wearing what ever I want to the work place:D As long as I feed the dogs and chooks and the cat I am free to be me. This is much needed relief as I have been walking the warehouse floor for the last 3 days in high heels and all the rest! My feet are starting to get a bit sore but the job is keeping me busy enough to not notice to much.
My only problem is that I may get a visit from a courier or transport driver at any time, or a customer may decide that he/she wants to just walk in off the street in stead of ringing in advance to make sure the products are available and the dogs are out of the way. (not that it is an active shop, we are a production warehouse) so heres hoping I dont get caught out short! And as long as I keep the products on the shelves and get the orders out there is no reason for the boss to check the security camera footage (of which there are 5 surounding the building and 2 inside the building)
So thats my update, now I had better get back to work keeping up with the product demand before I run out of something.

Hmm.. Well I don't know about anyone else wh may have read this, but the first thing I thought about after reading this was, isn't there a chance, or even a guarantee that other employees will see you?

Lol call the boss and tell him to stay an extra week so you'll be good and practiced up wearing your heels. You've really got my curiosity up on what you are selling but I wouldn't tell either if I were in your heels .......

Good for you and enjoy your time as Sarah. Make sure to wear shoes with closed toes or the chickens (chooks) may start to pick at your painted toe nails.

No chance of other employees seeing me Melody as I am the only employee other than my boss and his fiance both of whom are on the business trip. There may be a chance that the neighbouring business employees see me if we are both outside at the same time but that is a slim chance.
Jaylyn its no secret! I manufacture garden products but didnt want to raise an issue of "she's trying to sell us something" so I didn't mention the product brand name. and If I had it my way I wouldnt have to wait for the boss to go out of town to "dress up", my boss has seen me in full getup (but makeup only half done) as we used to be neighbours and he popped round to see if he could park his car in my driveway while the land lord was working on his driveway. I dont out of respect for the fact that he is my employer and I know he was extreemly uncomfortable while standing at my front door with me in full sarah mode. Its never been mentioned... but a girl knows these things!;)
And as for the chickens pecking at my pretty painted toenails... "let em try" they wont go near me after the last time I looked after them, not that Im cruel to them but they are not stupid.

I can only say it again - It's unwise to mess around with your job, your source of income. You mention that a delivery person or customer may drop by and you mention security cameras.
Obviously, you can do what you want, but my advice is to keep your dressing and your job as far away from each other as possible. I would hate to see your follow up post in a couple weeks about how your boss saw you on the security recordings and fired you.

Sarah,
Dont mess with it, people check security cameras just to see if they work.
When they see you wandering around they will look a little longer to see what you do, usually out of curiosity and you make an interesting subject as you are moving.
They would find out quite easily by accident. I was asked once what I was doing, when in fact I was chasing a mouse.
basically I was engaged in an unusual activity.
Curiosity DOES kill the cat.

Perhaps th boss has already checked the security cams and just doesn't care!

well, if it were your business you wouldn't have to worry what customers thought. but if this source of income is the invention of someone else, you should make sure not to effect that source of income in any negative way. at least, not without asking permission first. if there is no risk to the business, than have some fun!
