I have been dressing for quite a while and it has only been the past year or so since my divorce that I have even considered going beyond the basics and getting into things like forms and wigs. I have always been very discouraged by how I look even with the forms and wigs. Even the female rhinestone reading glasses I got didn't help. :(
So, I recently went to a local Mary Kay consultant for a makeover and again was dissappointed by the results. Unfortunatley, I am a littel red/green colorblind and my palette contains a lot of red and pink. The consultant and her daughter said I looked great but I couldn't see anythying. So today, I had to run into the grocery store for some shampoo and a few other things. Right on the corner of the isle was a Revlon display with a color palette that caught my eye, Sea Mist, I think, blue with aqua and sea green accents.
As soon as I got home, I changed into one of my favorite skirts and tops, with forms and started to put on my makeup. When I finished, I cold see the difference but it wasn't there. Next I put on my wig and it made a difference. I just wasn't sure. So to make sure, I went and got my readers and put them on to make sure I had my makeup on properly.
THERE SHE WAS!!! For the first time, I could see Shelby looking back at me. It was amazing. I still need a lot of work but I cannot tell you how I felt to see the beginnings of Shelby in my mirror.
I think my next step is to find a TG makeover specialist. There are a few in Austin and who knows, with their help, I may even get to the point where Shelby can go out on her own.
Hugs...
