View Full Version : Have you ordered your Fit Kit?

I saw a new advertising booklet about a new JOCKEY bra -- with 'The Fit That Speaks Volumes.'

It described a new bra with a new sizing system. The lettered cup sizes are gone, replaced by a 'Volumetric Fit System' featuring 10 sizes from 1 to 10. How do you determine what size you need? You order the Fit Kit for $19.95 (which includes a $20-off coupon on your first bra purchase). You'll get 10 "volumetric fit cups" which you try out over your breasts to get the right fit.

The Fit Kit also includes a measuring tape which you use to determine the band size -- and, unlike old ways (the silly "add 4 inches rule"), actual under-bust measurement IS your band size.

It sounds like fun and like many men I'd love to participate by helping Jockey's new customers try out their volumetric fit cups until they get the right size. But I guess I won't have that opportunity and I'm not sure the system is all that great for CDs, especially if their 'volume' is zero.

But gosh, it is always fun to read about bras. :o

So... 20 dollars but no bra? Just the sizing for a new bra?

I suppose I could simply tell them the size of my Amoena breast forms and they could determine the volume.

Greenie's right -- you pay $20 at the outset, just to be ready to make a $60 purchase of an untried product. They are clearly expecting lots of women to be so fed up with bra size problems that they will shell out that $20.

Kim, maybe Jockey will publish a forms-to-Jockey size conversion chart!

I like these new words that get coined from time to time.
Sometimes I have volumetric boobs if I want to look like Mae West.
Other times it is minimalist and perky.
Works for me.

Holy smokes! They priced their bras at $60.00 each! It'll be interesting to see how long this lasts. :)

I just don't know if that's the best marketing for a new product. :/ Here... Pay 20 bucks to fit yourself for something you then have to pay for. I guess the "20 dollars towards a new bra" negated that but..... I dunno if I dislike bra sizes that much to do that.

Or....you could go to a local store (Macy's, Dillard's, most upper end lingerie stores whatever) and have someone measure you correctly...for free. My question is what do you do with the cups afterward? Can you use them for margaritas?

I think that you could use the smaller cups for fruit, the medium ones for cereal and the larger ones for chili or stews. For $20.00 they should be used for something more than just measuring boobs, right??

The current methods of bra sizing are pretty stupid and they are not consistent from one manufacturer to another. That said, I doubt one manufacturer is going to change that acting alone. If they could get all the major manufacturers together, they should be able to come out with something much better than what they have now. Until that happens, we are stuck with the "measure and add 4" unless you have a large chest, then add 3" instead" system.

I agree with you Linda. I also hope that the manufacturers get together regarding shoe, and clothes sizing too. However, I am definitely not holding my breath for that to happen.

I agree with you, Greenie. I'd rather go somewhere for a proper fitting by an expert who does this for a living. If that means going to a high end boutique, so be it.

If a (currently imaginary) ladyfriend discussed this with me, I would suggest she do the same and volunteer to take her and pay for one brassiere, and no, I'm not trying to catch her or anyone else in a compromising position.

I was a rather active young man and got around a bit (I was in the Navy; I GOT around!), and I'm wondering if those cups cover all the various shapes of mammaries? Some would fit perfectly in a margarita glass, some would fit in a champagne flute.

Just sayin'

I think I'll have more fun trying on bras.

Sounds like Jockey has devised a new money making system for itself. I'll stick with the tried and true band and cup sizing, it's worked well for me for almost 50 years, and being the cheapster that I am, I'll spend the money for the fit kit on several new bras, on sale of course.

Ha, love that. Better than champaigne from a slipper!

Heres the real kicker. I work in a hospital and to me a FIT kit is for a fecal sample.

OMG, three sets of forms and rising, all different sizes. X $60 + $20 + future sets. Humm___÷√π×÷^€¢£ I'm, broke and confused????

I am guessing they had a contest between the "Y" front marketing guys and the plain cotton panties marketing girls about who could waste the most marketing Dollar$ and the guys won!

Volumetrics sound so sexy.... said no one ever! lol. Letter cup sizes were good enough for grandma they are good enough for me.... just changing the way the measure them doesn't make it a better bra!

I always heard it described as

"Egg cups, coffee cups, tea cups and challenge cups!"
