I am working out of town for a protracted period and packed a good portion of my girl things so I can get out if I like. Tomorrow, I have an appointment at a salon to have 2 wigs cut and styled. It'll be my first time face to face with others where interaction will be required and no back up friends to take the heat off. Should be interesting. I talked to my wife tonight about what to wear. I mean, I don't want to look like a fool !:heehee:

update at post 21 or so:) of thread.

See this is how silly I am. I didn't even know you could get wigs cut and styled. Lol.

Have fun. :) Hope you can get out in your girl clothes! :)

You have such a great smile, anyone you smile at will see how much you enjoy yourself, and how can enjoying yourself be foolish? Sure, you could dress like a fool, but your own sense of style wouldn't let you. I've never seen a bad pic of you!

You'll look fine and the interactions will be positive and encouraging. I've had several wigs styled and found that the stylists were so incredibly supportive.

Wow, the trip tot he salon did not disappoint. First, I have to give props to Darla Rude at Hair Options on Greenwood in Seattle. If you live in the NorthWest, GO THERE. Darla is fantastic. She has a small shop with maybe three dozen wigs on display and more in stock. She was welcoming, helpful, and all around pleasant.

Second, When i walked in, there were 5 older ladies there looking at a wig for Grandma. I must have made their day, week, month and year. Nothing was said, of course, but I wish I was a fly on the wall after I left. I was wearing the wig many of you have seen and when I sat down, Darla told me I was wearing it wrong! So starts the education. She repositoned it, cut it and thinned the bangs, but now, the bangs are very short (my error for cutting when worn wrong). Next we moved to my new wig. same style exactly as my old but different color (lighter brown). I asked her about the cut and if it worked and she spent time explaining what a cross dresser should avoid and what works (mine works). What to avoid? A short bob that turns in at the jaw line or just above or just below. The bob needs to hang well below the jaw line or you are just pointing at a problem area. So here is one before and two after. The changes are subtle: color, cut, blending of bangs to ears.

If you have not done this, do it. You will learn a lot.

Thats to funny that you were near Greenwood. I own a home on the north end of Green Lake a short drive from where you were at.

If you are still in town check out the "74th Ale House" on Phinney along with a place called "Chupacabra" if you like Posole.

Seattle is very tolerant which is one of the reasons I live here. This is the city where we have naked cyclists for the Solstice Parade.

If you have questions about the city feel free to PM me.

You may enjoy Fremont and Ballard as well.
