Hi all,

I am really curious, so I have to ask...

Since I started dressing on a regular basis (about 4 months ago, at home, on weekends) I have realised how much I love to wear makeup. Waking in the morning it is relatively easy to remove. What I really want to do is to experiment with some strikingly vibrant nail polish. My question is this: How easy is it to remove?

All thoughts and opinions welcomed!

Take care,

Alexs

One small tip. Use a clear first, then put the color over top of it. Seems easier to remove all traces of the color later.

It is a real &^&^%^%^

But only if you haven't the technique.

Apparently it is 'easy'.

However, seems to me it takes practice to not smear it all round and UNDER your cuticles. So take note of the 'nailies' when they respond. If not then you;'ll be wearing remants for days!!

OK, here is what you do:

1) Use a clear base coat, especially for blues and reds (which can stain your nails)
2) do not touch your cuticles with the polish, that is, do not polish right up to the cuticles
3) when removing, do NOT soak the removal pad or cotton ball with remover, just dampen it. If you use too much remover, the thinned out polish will then run into all the nooks and crannies. THIS is what makes nail polish hard to remove.
4) hold the removal pad or cotton ball on the nail for a few seconds to soften the polish, then wipe outwards towards the ends of your nails
5) go over all your nails, then take a new pad or ball and go over all nails again
6) if necessary, use a Q-tip (cotton bud) to get around the cuticles
7) scrub well with soap and water and a nail brush
8) use a moisturizer and cuticle oil when finished

And do NOT sleep in your makeup! Always remove it before bed - your skin and eyes will thank you for it.

How's that? :D Hope it helps...

As will your pillowcases! :p

I agree that polish is easily removed, IF the cuticles haven't been touched. If cuticles are involved, the 'nailies' can be a problem to remove. I have my nails done every other week, short in the masc style. I have them buffed really smooth, then have the manicurist apply my nail strengthener first, then have it covered with clear. This method prevents the chipping and peeling that otherwise occurs without the base coat. When I use my bright red polish, no matter how careful I am, I get 'nailies'. I have never had color applied my the manicurist. It seems to me having polished applied by others is the way to go, if possible. Self application is difficult for me.

Ahhh, so THAT's what I was doing wrong!

You're a gem, Dana

Glad to help :) You know, step 3 is the single most important removal tip I know, it really does make all the difference. Are you listening Julie York? ;)

I use the First Kiss stickons. Have a couple boxes painted and ready to go at all times. Can wear them 2 or 3 times before they loose their adheasiveness. And just pull them off when done and put them back in their box. Gives a real nice fem look!! Usually paint my toe nails to match!!! or if you want to experiment with colors, do you toes!! And you dont have to clean them up, just wear socks alot!! Hehehe

Sharon has said it very concisely, "Always remove your make-up before you go to bed. Your skin and eyes will thank you and so will your pillowcase." You Betcha! Clean your face and eyes thoughly. Moisturising creams help, there are cleaners available for face and eyes. I use lots of warm, soapy water and washcloths, too. Lots of ways to clean your make-up off.

Love y'all,

Gwen;)

I use the artificial nails. "Talons" they are easily removeable and have their own color so I dont need to paint them. They come in sizes big enough for my fingers too. size 0!

Karren, thanks for the advise about painting the toes. I just love having painted toenails - fire-engine red! I have found that the toes stain even though I use a light color first. Is there a specific nail polish for using first, which might prevent this problem? I, of course, have to take the nail polish off frequently, lest my wife see it. P.S. I enjoyed your pics as a slideshow on Yahoo. I had no idea that a member could get to see pics of other members so easily. Would any of the other girls like to show their links to Yahoo. I recently signed on to yahoo but have not learned how to upload pics yet.

Mine are always painted so I wear socks a lot, even to bed!! Thanks for the compliment on the pics, 360 is a pain but getting the hang of it!!

Love Karren
