I'm thinking about taking some female hormones.
I don't really want to transition (at least currently) I just want to soften my features and feel a little more on the outside like I do on the inside.
Is this possible? Is this a bad idea?
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

If you want HRT, you will have to do it under medical supervision, trying to do it yourself is very dangerous.

If you don't plan to live as a woman, I'd exhaust all options to improve your appearance from the outside first, before having to risk changing things inside.

Vickie is correct. Medically, one does not take "some" female hormones.

It is kind of like an all or nothing deal. The changes cannot be controlled and you get what you get and eventually they become obvious. Unless a transition is the goal I would think HRT is a bad choice. Discussion with a therapist would be a good idea.

From my understanding and reading about female hormones it is a risky thing to do, and should only be done with a doctors guidance. Do like me and start an outside regime of making the skin softer by moisturizers, shaving closer and softer soaps. I used to scrub my hands hard getting all the grease and grime off then walk away. Now I wash and hand lotion as one example. My hands have improved. Now doing cleaning on my feet, nails and toes. As Vickie has said start on the outside first, till you decide what you really want.

You may consider posting this question in the transsexual body issues forum. This is more of a Crossdresser's forum.

Female hormone regimen is not just popping pills to achieve a feminine appearance, it is a risky procedure that requires medical supervision, tests and a psychiatrists report.
You could also read up and post to the transsexual forums where you would get first hand replies and advice.

If you are concerned about the appearance of your face you might consider laser and/or electrolysis. Removing the beard also has the effect of smoothing the skin and making your lips look more feminine without the "male follicle bulge." It will make you look younger in male mode and reduce the need for heavy makeup en femme.

Hormones are a very dangerous game to play for those who are not yet certain of their position in the spectrum.
