Going down to Killeen, Texas, for the 4th to spend a few days with some friends of the family. The whole family is going, my son ,his girl friend and her two small children, My daughter,Her fiance and my grandson. And of course, the German Shepard puppy "Madder". He's getting big!
James, the fiance, purchased over a couple thousand dollars worth of fireworks to set off. Sparklers and party poppers for the kids. You should have seen him on the computer looking at the websites for fireworks stands. He was like a kid looking at the videos of sample explosions. "How come you don't look at porn like other guys do?" I asked him.
"This is my porn." He answered. "I love to blow stuff up!" A typical male answer.
Nessa, my daughter, has a doctors appointment today to get some pain shots for the trip. Her doctor told her that she shouldn't be going out of town. We discussed it. I told her "Just because they tell you that your going to die doesn't mean that you need to stop living." She agreed. She had me a bit concerned last week. She spent the whole week laying in bed in agony from the cancer. But she's feeling better now. Getting out will be good for her.
I'm going take my laptop with me as well as my drawing materials so that I can work on my Xombie project when I'm not playing with the kids.
The couple that we are going to see are good friends. Army buddies of my daughter's fiance. The husband is a little bit of redneck. But he doesn't give me any grief about my being transgendered. I just don't like all the drinking that is going to be going on. But it's a holiday so I'll have to deal with it.
They have three kids. They are all cool with me. They ask a few questions once in a while but it's not like I'm not prepared to answer them. Been there...done that already.
All in all I'm looking forward to the holiday.
Hope yours is a good one too!

I wish you a very happy Fourth.

Your daughter Nessa sounds like she still has the need to live and that is very good. I wish she enjoys as many more Fourths as she can.

My father was in the Army prior to and during WWII. He told me Killeen TX was the worst place he was ever stationed. I hope it has improved in the last 70 years.

I had an excellent holiday. The fireworks display was "the bomb"! It was great!! The kids loved it! They kept chanting "Light the fireworks! Light the fireworks!" There was a burn ban in the area but we had a fireman who lived nearby over so we were covered. We kept a water hose ready just in case. The only mishap that we had was when we lit too many at once and a few embers fell on the neighbors car. No damage done. But it gave us pause to think and decide to limit the amount of rockets to 2 at a time so we could better track where they were falling.
When we first arrived at our friends house the husband let me know that he was expecting a few friends over that I didn't know and asked me if I wouldn't mind wearing one of his shirts to cover my breasts up a little bit, make them less noticeable. I told him " No problem. You know me. I'm flexible." My daughter, on the other hand was a little pissed at the idea. I told her "There is no reason to be angry. I pick my battles carefully. There is no sense getting all bent out of shape over the little stuff."
She had a pretty good time. She had a few instances when she went completely blind because of her tumor causing pressure on her optic nerve but that only lasted for a few hours and she regained her sight in time to enjoy the fireworks.
One of the daughters of a guest was a little curious about me and asked the usual "are you a girl or a boy?" question. "You look like a girl but talk like a boy." She observed.
"I'm ME just like you are YOU." I told her. The answer seemed good enough and she was satisfied with it. Kids are a lot smarter than we give them credit for.
All in all we all had a good time!
I did a few "Hello Kitty" drawings for the kids. They liked them.

Thanks,Di. Yes. We had a lot of fun. My grandson was perpetual motion the entire 3 days we were there. He spent most of the time jumping on the trampoline. He loves to bounce. Me? Not so much. But I did it for him anyway.
