I had my annual checkup today at the VA clinic. All seems well, but need to see the cardiologist for annual followup.

I surprised myself during this visit. I planned to ask about starting HRT, and I did it! I really thought I'd chicken out. The doctor said that she had no expertise in this, but would ask the higher ups what the steps would be. Being Friday pm, I didn't expect to hear anything before Monday, but got a call on my way home! Appointments are being made for me, for counselling and with specialist. I am so happy! The downside, is the financial aspect of this. I don't rate full VA care, and my PPO won't touch this.

Being 62, I doubt I'll make it to SRS (this also depends on my heart), but to at least get HRT, and bring my body in line with the girl within, will be a major achievement.

Until I know more,

Leah

Never say never Leah. I am older than you are, have been on hormones for nearly 5 months, will have FFS later this year and plan on GRS in a little over a year. As long as you get clean report from a stress test, your cardiologist should allow the surgery, as long as everything else on OK.

Good luck, Leah. I hope the VA is able to help out!

The ball is rolling. Now let's see if you can bark and clap like a seal. :)

Really, good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

Thank you, ladies. I've been waiting for this since I first understood what Christine Jorgenson did.

Then I don't believe your avatar pic. That woman looks distinctly in her 30s.

Leah, Wow. Christine Jorgenson story shaped me too. I was 12 or 13, and read the book jacket enough to learn about her, and I "knew" it was me. One of those big "Aha!" moments when things finally make sense. They don't come around that often. And of course I didn't dare to tell a sole. That took another gazillion years for me too. (FWIW I came out and made open changes in January this year at age 58 1/2, though I started HRT in 2005-2006.)

Thank you so very much Leona, what a wonderfully sweet thing to say.. Unfortunately my stated age is correct and my avatar picture is definitely of me.
