Well yesterday I had a app with the VA. DR. (had some low back pain) BUT THAT WAS NOT THE Y I WANTED TO C HIM. Back OK..
Well I told him that I was ready for the next step, I asked to go on HRT . ( Now I must have had some good luck over the last 5 years when I was sent to Dr. Kuch in the VA system. low and behold he was in charged of the gender program at the VA. in FL. thy have there own wing there MtoF and FtoM .
He is so well informed. So glad I got on the Transsexual form and read all and then looked aver thing up so I know what I was talking about. I ask to see a gender therapy's . and the endocrinologist .
So now I will Weight for the app for both. As we talked I had that feeling he was going to wright the scrip for me. and I did not need to c the therapy's for it.
It felt like a load off my back after talking. He is one of a kind, the best that I have aver been to. Very caring and listen to aver thing u have to say and u don't feel rushed.
So right now I am flying high. We will c how long this last. I need some good right now Been down.
I am doing this for me.
Now I would like to lose a little more weigh get down to 150 I am 5' 11" and around 175 down from 230 so now that I got this on here I am going to go run 5 miles any one up for it lol... Love Cindy

Congratulations Cindy. You have taken the biggest step of your life. Let's hope that the VA realizes that at this point things should move quickly, because the waiting can be torture. My GD was at it's worst, between my self acceptance, and getting treatment.
Yes, you're doing this for yourself, so keep that good feeling going. Attitude is everything.

Cindy, good for you and with the VA.

I have my first VA appointment Thursday. I am not seeking gender help but simply help with the cost of my medications. So far I am extremely pleased with how fast the VA acts. One of my personal doctors has taught at both Stanford and the Palo Alto VA hospitals and told me today that for general medical issues, the VA Hospital is superior to the Stanford Hospital and that is saying a lot.

Congrats on the VA and the great doctor you have. My mileage differs at my VA clinic in Indianapolis. Im fighting to get back on HT after being on it happily for six months. His position is that hormones are not prescribed unless there is a full committment to transitioning openly, and on the path to a full, permanent transition. Is that the same requirement in your VA?

You don't sound too heavy to me. I'm around 180 at 5'6", and would be more than satisfied to reach 150.

Just read Tereas's comment here and I'm curious. I am going to get assigned my first Primary Dr. at the VA very soon and my main reason for using the VA is for HRT. If this is the VA policy I may as well stay with my private Dr. and therapist and wait until they see fit to start Mine. Anyone having any knowlege of this being a set Policy please let me know, as I, at age 70, have no desire to have any more surgery on my body, other that to keep me alive.
Thanks in advance,

Bobbi

Bobbi, it's the reaction of an over zealous gatekeeper.

I brought it on in part. Look at Ann Vitale's note #15 for the reason. I told and got cut. Now I'm back as Teresa, I'm out and about, my home life is with me as female around my wife. But I'm grounded. My E from the VA is gone and I'm forced to use Internet drugs or find myself back in gender dysphoria. Not good. Not good at all. I'm going to ask to be monitored.
