View Full Version : Disbelief in CDing in busy places?

This question is motivated by this comment in the recent photoshopped photos thread:
I recall several years ago when I was accused of photoshopping the background setting in my pictures, just cause "crossdressers don't go to those busy places in real life". The places were like festivals (Folklorama and the Fringe) and I wore clothes like jeans skirts at that time. Just because I did not become defensive, I was deemed guilty by those folks.
Q: Is this a common feeling? Do people actually think we don't really go out and about where large groups can see us?
Perhaps when I was first getting started, I might have found it difficult to believe. Nowadays, I just go wherever I want to go, whether or not in full view of large groups of people.

i don't know about the rest, but I would certainly believe that CD's go "out and about" to things like festivals. Why wouldn't you? What better place than a large group of strangers?

Places I've been: Several concerts, Celtic movie festival, airports, Vegas Casino, Universal Studio's Florida. So yeah we do get out there!

I've been to large malls, by myself and with other CDs. Walked around pretty much anywhere in Boston. Waited in crowed lines for the ladies room. Yeah, we are out there all the time.

I can attest to the fact that we do indeed go anywhere other people go. The person making the photoshop allegation was sadly misinformed.

There was probably a perception by others that CD'ers did not go to populated places.
Of course this has never been true.

It's true for many in the beginning, but you get past the fear with continued exposure and good experiences. So it's hard to imagine at the start. I understand where that reaction comes from.

Going where there is a lot of people is the best way to go unnoticed but I guess one that doesn't go out enfemme doesn't realize that.

To be truthful I prefer going out to the regular world either alone or with GG friends than going to "sheltered" clubs and strictly LGBT events.

I never go past the front door but the few times I have, I have mostly gone alone (except the first time, my SO was with me). I would thing that a CD in a big crowd is a lot harder to point out (the needle in the hay stack theory) than a girl on her own as on her own makes her the focal point of being looked at.

Probably based on the person's own fear and insecurity... but, large groups are often the best place to go.

The main thing to remember for all of you that never venture out into public enfemme is "Not everyone is looking at you."
There are not throngs of people waiting to cause you harm or scream out "look its a guy in a dress."
Learning to get over the fear that you put on yourself is the key.

I can only speak for myself. I go anywhere that I need or want to. The exceptions are that I do not go en femme when I am going to be with my family and old friends.
It's true for many in the beginning, but you get past the fear with continued exposure and good experiences. So it's hard to imagine at the start. I understand where that reaction comes from.
Well said.....thank you!
Back to the days many years back....I would tell Sherlyn you can go anywhere.....she would not believe me.
But as you pointed out the fear goes away with continued exposure and good experiences and me prodding her.
But just like all of you lovely ladies have found .....you finally feel ....free. And go anywhere you darn well please.

If we are dressed to blend we can go anywhere, especially in mall and restaurants.
Everyone is busy with themselves and dont look very hard at others. I am 6'2 an
no one takes a second look when I am in malls or restaurants

I'm often impressed with the notion mentioned by A. Conan Doyle: hiding something important is often done best in plain sight!

We can go anywhere without the need to blend in as well. If you got the will, there certainly has to be a way!

I went Shopping at a very Busy shopping center in Orlando last year about a week before Christmas....that was kind of crowded. No one said anything or even looked at me funny. They are all too busy doing their own shopping.

I have gone out and about on my own a few times. And here lately since I came back out again. I stay 50/50 most of the time. I go to the store or whatever in a pushup bra and skinnies amd a cute top. No makeup. Maybe a cute little bracelet and or necklace. Hair is just messy dude hair. And guess what??? Noone gives a @#$#. Lol. I acrually did get cat called. It was a large group of women and men. They were whistling and doin that yeah baby thing. Smiling at me. Winking. Not malicious. Just beimg silly and having fun. Made me smile and giggle. I swayed my hips a bit more as I walked. Gave em a little wave. It was actually quite fun. Confidence is key. No doubt. Be comfortable in yourself. Dont fear wwhat you think is there. Because honestly it isnt there. And you will be just fine. Always smile. Always be you. And dont let the b@$ tards get you down.
Btw I am blessed/cursed with natural breasts. 38B+ I wear a b or.c cup depending on bra. So even braless I still have lady lumps. Lol. So I dont need forms. But I cant just go without my lumps on. Cause they is attached. Lol.

Hell, there are people that believe the moon landings were faked so what are you going to do???? :heehee:
For the record, I am a Photoshopped figment of your imagination. All of you that have met me in-person are delusional. My friends on this forum like Melissa Rose is a victim of a Matrix-like conspiracy and she only thinks that we have logged hundreds of miles in heels in malls, restaurants, theaters, public streets, etc, etc. . .
No really, its true. . . I mean a lie. . .I mean. . .
:hugs:
