I'm traveling on business and looked up local support groups, finding a Monday night "Transgender Coming Out" group that meets at the San Diego LGBT Community Center.
I walked in, in drab (traveling light), to find about 20 people, well mixed in age and pretty evenly divided between trans men and trans women. This is the best group I've encountered to-date. It's well-moderated (facilitated, really) and there was a lot of participation. A couple of new people, me included, received some Q&A focus to draw us in, followed by substantive conversation on whatever topic was raised.
A little more than half the group decamped to a local lesbian bar after the meeting, and I was invited along. Interestingly, almost every person in the place was trans last night. Very social. I stayed about an hour.
