I'm on Estradiol patches, and cyperotone. Lately I've noticed dizzy spells. Like the feeling when you drank one starbucks too many. Yesterday it went away in a few minutes, today almost an hour.
Any body wlse? Or should I call my endo?
Thanks.

It's probably caused from salt loss and dehydration. You need to drink a lot more water. Have you experienced any muscle cramps? That's a sure sign . . .

Hi Celeste,

I thought that what Anne said was the most likely cause (I assumed that cyperotone is a diurectic like spiro), however, I couldn't find any info online that it is a diuretic. There are a bunch of other side effects though that you may want to research.

I did find info on a medical site that the hormone combination of estradiol and cyperotone can cause the allergic reaction of dizziness. Quote:

"An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist."

Whatever the cause of your dizziness, you should definitely talk to your endo about it. Don't take any chances with your health.

Sincerely,
Simone

I talked to my pharmacist. She printed the spec sheet, and it noted that dizziness is the third most common side effect. She said not to panic, but a call to my endo on Monday may be in order. Thanks girls.

Sprio and cypro both led to shortness of breath for me (but in different ways); in some people the shortness of breath might led to dizziness. (I had dizziness with Spiro but I could tell that was mostly due to blood pressure problems.)

I am on spiro and the effect has happened to me too. Less so lately and my Dr told me it is likely due to a blood pressure drop and dehydration. Drink a lot of sports drinks and water, even if not thirsty.

The effect of feeling like when you drank one starbucks too many, and lasted an hour or so sounds like a drop in blood sugar. Have you had that checked? I have heard that the AA drugs can cause a drop in blood sugar.

On Spiro, I have to drop my BP medicine, which also included a diuretic, as the combo lowered my BP too much, and I was dizzy every time I stood up. Now it is infrequent. Also diabetic, and the combination of low BP, and low blood sugar does lead to increased dizziness. have to watch sugar levels much more closer, and topped with the worry that insulin insensitivity may increase due to the Estrogen. I get bloodwork every three months.
