Is this real?

I think it's fair to say that many of us here have something of an affinity for vintage shapewear. Over the years, I've collected about 400 ads from various places and have been putting them on Pinterest. While doing so, I stumbled across the attached picture. Was this real?

The part about the shapely figure appears to be true. Judging from the bra and girdle style, I tend to doubt the authenticity. I do not recall seeing it many moons ago.

My eye was drawn to the faces and hair styles of the models; if I was to guess, I bet the figure on the right was photoshopped.

I think the ad was created by a fertile mind much later in time, and no, it is not an ad that would have reflected the time that it purports to come from.

I don't remember that one specifically, but it looks a lot like some of the ad spoofs Stana has put together for her "Femulate" blog (recommended daily read).

If only it where true, but if a magazine ran that back when it looks like it was made, they would have been out of business by weeks end! And so would Playtex.

Evidently what they are saying is that Platex wear works so well, it can help transform a man into a woman. I would have "bought" that ad as a teenager.I had high hopes of being a woman in those days. Now, even though I know it's not necessary for me to transition, I still have fun with it. Don't forget, Playtex had the "living bra". ;):)
