Perhaps it's just me. I am not a fan of the term "Playing Dress Up". Does anyone have another term? I am not playing.

Hi Allie
I hear you and dont have a answer, I know you are going for it and know what you want the same as me but a few years behind you. Btw found a cute weeklong retreat up in Ashville can not wait. I think what you want is to dress up and not think in your mind you are not just "playing dress up" not sure who put that in your mind.

I just get dressed up which works very good for me, except when I have to dress down.
I like to say Just Dressing

I don't object to others playing dress up with a wife or friend. That's a fairly narrow and acceptable descriptive. It doesn't apply to my life, because, as you said, I'm not playing. I'm just being myself.

How about just being me?

Life? Not getting arrested for indecent exposure? Putting on my clothes? I play golf (not well) I play guitar (not well), I play poker (sort of OK but I have been beaten badly at that too) I don't play house or dress up...

I just say I am "getting changed" or sometimes to my wife I say I am "slipping into something "less" comfortable" as a spoof when she changes out of a dress and heels and the standard saying is slipping into something more comfortable!

My wife just asks me if "Staci is coming over tonight".
It kind of makes me happy that my wife acknowledges Staci as something real.
A very insightful post, thanks!

For me, it,s letting Misty out. Also, my wife will ask things like, "would Misty like to come visit," or, "any chance Misty is available to do my nails?" I guess, then, it's an outing.
Now that I think about it, in many ways "out" is a rather appropriate term in my case . . . .

I played dress up when I was six.
Now days I dress to impress.

I've been using "getting dressed" for a couple of years, but I just love the originality on this thread.
"Changing into something less comfortable" and "Changing into someone more comfortable" are my new favorites.

I understand what others are saying, and you may not want to use the term, but some of us still play dress-up, so the term is fine for us.

No real name for it at my house. It's just something I do. Now if it's time to go back to "boy" mode, my wife will sometimes say "You better take your boobs off." That means all the girly stuff.

I am a fan of "getting dressed". When it comes time to put on my drab attire it is "getting ready to go to work".

There are a lot of terms in life I don't like so I don't use them. Nothing hard about that.

Either just getting dressed or getting dolled up. I used to tell my wife that I was going to pay the bills when I needed to dress up in the bedroom (so's she wouldn't walk in since she still doesn't want to see). Most of the time I did work on the bills inbetween posing and changing outfits.

To me Playing Dress Up is being someone else. To me I Play Dress UP when I am in my male clothes. When I put on a dress and put my make-up on then I am my self
