View Full Version : What I learned on vacation

Over the years I have seen a lot of posts where someone is concerned about what are neighbors or friends would say if we had nail polish on or our ears priced, etc. I am beginning to think that in today’s society and if in non-business situations, people do not care.

I push the envelope all the time as to what a guy can wear. For example, while on vacation this month, I never tried to present as female. No makeup, hip pads or breast forms and no skirts/dresses. However, the only male clothes I wear were my boxer shorts. (The wife likes them.) My sandals, shorts and tank tops were all from the women’s department. I also, had long dangling earrings and matching necklace. My toenails are bright pink, with a flower design and finger nails are long with sparkly red gel polish. I also have a feminine haircut.

Sometimes we were greeted as ladies, and sometimes not. In one restaurant the manager referred to me a Ma’am and the cashier said Sir. At another time, I carried on a conversation with another manager, who knows I am male, about our nail colors. I mentioned to her I liked her design. After talking about her nails, she then mentioned she loved how my red nails sparkled. At number of the boutique stores in Big Bear, they know us as a hetero couple (we are there a lot) and have no problems with me trying on ladies clothes and shoes. In fact they offer to help with finding items for both of us.

Also, since I telecommute every day, I basically dress the same at home. Over the past year, I have never had a negative comment from anyone, but have received complements on both my earrings and nail color.

So if you are concerned about what you neighbors and friends will say, don’t the chances are that they will just accept it in today’s society.

Interesting post Richelle,
At home I am very wary about who sees me, when on vacation just about anything goes and I do get misquoted gender wise quite often.
I like vacations far away from home base.

I think you're right. Even here in Texas, I am happy to,say my neighbors and associates and friends seem unphased by the change in my appearance. One GG friend said, your the same person with nicer outfits!

I push the envelope all the time

This is me. A woman or a man will never satisfy me!! I've realized that. I want something beyond what this world can give me. I want, until I don't want anymore!!!!!:D

A lot depends on where you live, some areas are open to just about anything other areas are closed to anything out of the normal.
ALSO some people might have neighbors that would make life tough if you didn't fit into their lifestyle.

Hey cool! Yet another Forum member that "get's it" and understands The REALITY of today's world. Wear whatever you want, wherever you want and "act normal".

And most importantly, just treat folks with the same courtesy and respect that you would like to get back.

It's really a very simple plan to execute. And one does not even need a copy of THE CrossDressers Handbook.
