So over the course of the year I was seeing a therapist and I finally have been approved by her to begin to HRT. Now I am just waiting for the specialist to see me to possibly begin.

Why possibly begin you ask? I still have not told my family and the few people that this would deeply affect.

Suggestions? :battingeyelashes:

First of all, congratulations on getting the referral. I would urge you to let your immediate family know sooner rather than later - we have seen numerous instances of members starting hormones and trying to hide it from their SO initially and that nearly always leads to a train-wreck with total loss of trust.

For years we deny, hide and suppress until the dam breaks. Then we transition. Transition is a very public process. You can hide it for a while, but at some point people will start to notice change. The best advice I can give is to come out to those close to you. Explain your situation, why you decided to start hormone therapy and what you expect it can do for you.

Then the chips will fall as they will. You may be surprised at the level if support you may get. I would not suggest blhrting the the world "hey here I am I am transitioning". But certainly to your closest family, friends and at some point HR at work will need to be informed.

Good luck I would say starting hrt is a momentous occasion for all of us.

I think that if you need to start HRT, then nothing should stand in your way. As much as I respect your wishes to keep friends and family happy, ultimately, it is your happiness only that matters. Take care of #1, and slowly let your family into the loop. In my experience, you will encounter more acceptance than negativity. My family all cried tears of joy at my announcement, quickly realizing this was something I needed to do.
