I occasionally check out another forum. They had a great idea for a thread going, but as usual it dissolved into nonsense and infighting (not a good forum).
The point of the thread- For a moment forget the difficulties, and frustrations of transition. Share something great that happened- A compliment, you got your F drivers lic., A friend promised their support, etc.
Transition can be full of potholes and setbacks. Let's hear about those 'Makes it all worthwhile' moments.

I'll start.
I went to pay a bill at my insurance brokers yesterday. She's been my broker for 17 years, but how often do you need to see your broker? She had never seen my female self, and was taken slightly aback. We chatted for a few minutes, mostly about my change in presentation, while I paid my premium, then she said "The one thing about you that surprises me the most...you look so...um...comfortable." What a great compliment.
Then she made things better by saying "When you get your female drivers lic. send me a copy of both sides, and I'll amend your policies. It will save you some money too!" Now that's a feel good moment!

I received my new social security card Sat. I received my new driver's license with my new name and F on Tues.

Hmm... I woke up this morning. That's always a good thing. However, seriously, I had my cardiology followup yesterday, and they are still "guardedly approving" HRT. I was also notified of my psych eval appointment. So far, all good things happening.

A friend of a friend who I met for the first time today later came up to me and said "I've just been told you weren't always a woman"

Now I am by no means a pretty woman, but apparently I am now confident enough that people don't look at me and scream "tranny", they look at me and see a not very pretty 50 something woman.

Hopefully I'll be setting a date with Dr Brassard next week. Just one minor letter from my GP left to go. Is that good news?

A couple of weeks ago, I was wearing plain blue jeggings and a plain long-sleeve top, natural hair, no forms, no makeup. A taxi driver consistently referred to me as "ma'm" through the trip, even after hearing my usual voice, even after hearing my SO use my male name repeatedly (there are no female names similar to my male name.) I was sitting beside the driver too, so it wasn't that I was hidden. It was the first time that I recall that someone has spontaneously referred to me as female even after given evidence (not just hints) that I might not be.

About 3 weeks ago I visited the motor vehicle agency in the morning and had my drivers license changed with a new photo and a corrected gender ID. Then I went out and bought myself a new car. These 2 almost compare to my receiving a clean bill of health from my stress test 2 days ago which allows my FFS in 2 1/2 weeks to proceed on schedule,

I was checking out at the food co-op this morning, buying a bunch of Wiccan supplies, and a man half my age started chatting me up about the little glass bottles and oils and things that i had on the belt. He seemed genuinely interested, and offered his hand to me in a very gentlemanly way, politely asked my name, and said "l don't know what it is about you, ma'am, but you sure seem to be full of sunshine this morning!" Oh my, did that make me smile!

:daydreaming: well... I think that one of the best moments is when we receive a free gift like this from a stranger. Happy for you!

I'm hoping this thread stays going a while. Just a place to post our little triumphs.
Yesterday I had lunch with my lovely sister. She never misgenders me, and introduces me to all her friends as 'her little sister'. That's a triumph.

I was out dancing last night. At various times, I was joined by a young gentleman and two girls. A guy offered to buy me a drink (and chatted me up). I got a "you really look good" and a "you're so pretty".

Despite my desire to over-analyze the comments, I am smiling about the entire evening.

I sent my deposit to Dr. Suporn this week for GRS and BA on March 27th, 2014. I think that's good news. :)
