I am sort of pondering the same question Arianna Renee. I have been invited to a Halloween party, hosted by a friend who I used to work with. I saw the guest list and there may be 6 or 7 ex coworkers there. We cross paths all the time, as we are in the same business. None of them have any idea that I am a CDer, but I am thinking about going as Stephanie. What do you think, should I just pick something typical for a guy?

Go as Stephanie and do a really good job of it.
Make an impression and you will only get favorable comments.
As Ru Paul would say "Don't stuff it up."

The danger of going to the party as Stephanie is that you will do a good job and people will figure out that you do this more than once a year.

If you don't want them to suspect that you are a crossdresser, wear a guy costume. Or, do the "woman thing" but really badly. Stuff a bra with socks and make sure it's too high on your chest. Wear a really cheap wig, leave a beard shadow and wear too much makeup and do it poorly. Wear a pair of flashy heels but stumble around in them. Wear a too tight for your age miniskirt and fishnet stockings. Paint your nails badly.

Halloween isn't really the "crossdresser's holiday" it's made out to be. It's fine for a beginner, but I wouldn't be happy doing what I posted. Now if you want to go out on the town where people won't know you, it would be a great holiday because people won't be sure if you're a GG or in costume. If they read you, fine, you just did great with your costume.

Are you at all worried about being known among your former business associates as a CDr? If so, then I suppose you could do the guy thing. If it no longer matters, then go as yourself.

I went to a Halloween party last year as Leah. Proper makeup, good wig, nice skirt and sweater, tights and boots. Several guys I work with were there, including the one that dared me to do it; he knew that I did it the year before for a party my wife and I had. I've taken a ton of joking and teasing since.

Hugs,

Leah

Steph,

I have to rewrite my response because I thought that Leah's response was yours. So, hopefully this addresses your question and concerns. Sorry for my confusion.

If you have an SO, ask what they think and explain your concerns. If you do have one and she supports you, then just tell everyone that asks, that she helped you with everything including the makeup. If you don't have an SO but are going with a good friend/date, then maybe one goes as the male and you go as the female and blame your perfection on help from a lot of people and make sure that one or more of those helpers are female. If you are single and everyone knows that it then all depends on how well you may be able to take any heat (questions/odd looks/comments) during the party and then after whenever you run into the other party goers or common friends of theirs. If you think that your livelihood, i.e. income producing job, may be at risk, then you need to act accordingly.

Twenty plus years before I ever thought about crossdressing (I started about 7 years ago from zero) I dressed at a construction project costume party completely as a woman. My advantage then was that everyone was dressing differently and even one of my co-workers was also dressing up as a somewhat trampy woman (his wife as the man). My wife, kids and all of my co-workers and their wives knew I was going as a woman and many of the wives provided the proper sized garments for me to wear and even helped me with makeup. I made it a point to have my beautiful and young secretary escort me to the women's restroom all night, with no issues by the way. So, before I even left the house I was OK with everyone and never had an issues to deal with during or after the party.

So, going about it the right way can help eliminate stray thoughts in others' minds. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi Steph,

I say go for it if you are not concerned with your ex-coworkers. If anyone thinks it is odd, tell them it was a bet with a friend and you weren't going to loose out on some easy cash. Even go so far as taking some pictures of yourself and tell them it is proof that you dressed up and that your friend also has to provide proof from his party.

If I could . . . I would. :battingeyelashes:

I would say go for it hun! Go for it, and do it up proper! Don't go halfway and flub here or there. If anyone asks how you came to look so good with all of this, just say your SO/ or a good friend helped you with it all. Have fun with it!

I've thought about this as well since the date is coming up...personally I'm out. I don't think I want to go out as Aimee when I'm normally dressed like her anyway. Would almost be like not dressing at all.

Don't do it at work, but around old co-workers and friends, depending on their character, is fun. There are some friends who would just not get it (but generally these ones don't enjoy Halloween either), but others that think its a great costume. Some people say to do a crappy job so no one suspects anything...I say, don't do your female self, but do a female character and do it as best as you can. And if anyone asks, just say you stayed at a holiday in express... it is attitude, be fun, have fun, joke about it, explain nothing. It is just a costume.
