Hello girls.
so ill be starting hormones in the beginning of October and im super excited! ive come out to everyone, including my family and ive been going part time for a while now.
my question is, ive heard of many girls who gain weight on hrt and many who lose a lot of weight on hrt. i was wondering what the factors of that coin toss are? im currently 5'10 160lbs. i would like to be around 140. also i was curious as to when people noticed facial structure changes? i have a very feminine face already, but i think after some fat redistribution and weight loss, ill be passing. wish me luck!!

Hi Luna,

I think the appropriate place for your question is in the TS Body Issues section. I would be happy to respond there.

Congrats on being yourself.

Sincerely,
S.

Around 6/7 month when really started notice facial changes with skin getting real soft & lighter and cheeks filling out. Some do put on more weight but other don't but will gain on hips and rear end, but each person is different to how there body take to hrt. First thing notice will be more in head if that makes sense.

As best as I can tell from the FAQ, the body issues forum disallows discussion of medication-related changes, as well as weight loss specifically.

I've never seen a discussion of factors per se. My experience is that it has made little difference.

After a year, I've had comments about facial features "softening" but nothing more specific than that. I've seen some minor redistribution to hips and legs away from my waist. My wife commented on my "getting a waist" a few weeks ago - by which she meant a feminine waist above the navel. With the loss of some upper body bulk it all combines into a subtle shape shift, but nothing that screams female.

For me after 16 mon, the biggest change was in the thighs: they are constantly rubbing together. And thickening of the waist is obvious, making some pants impossible to wear. My weight has increased slightly: I'm 5 9, 160 lb. I don't notice changes in the face but the arms have definitely changed. The first changes were with the softening and thinning of the skin.

I use an android app called My Fitness Pal. Input your height and weight, the fact that you're female, and your current and target weight. It will do the calcs on daily calories for you, and taps an enormous foods online database of seemingly every food in a modern western diet. Using it, and actually doing diet and exercise, of course, I've dropped from 213 a year ago to 179 today. My goal is to lose every ounce of guy fat, and count on the presence of my estradiol in me to add back on new girl fat! You can guess where. My height is 5'10", too (i'm shrinking, oh my) and my eventual, final target weight is 150. See you there, ok?

Good luck sweetheart, Ann
