Well I finally did it!
My wonderful, loving wife and I went out last night to a local gay/lesbian bar. The last Sunday of each month they have what they refer to as "Drag it to Bingo" night. They start by playing some bingo, and then the drag show after. The performers were awesome!
We have been out a few times before, but never to a very public place like this.
Halloween doesn't count either!
We both had a fantastic time, and we plan on going again.
I wore a black long sleeve satiny top,red mini skirt, nude stockings and red sling back peep toes, and the wife wore a purple lacey tank top, black lacey skirt, black stockings and black pumps. I didn't think so,but my wife thought we were over dressed. Aside from the performers themselves, there really wasn't anyone else dressed up to the extent we were, but there were a few girls wearing nice jeans and heels. But all in all,we had a great time and look forward to doing it again!
It really is a nice feeling to be greeted and addressed as a female!
I got the "ma'am and young lady" from the bar tender a few different times!
Still on cloud nine!
It was a great first experience!

As a very recent outer I know the feeling - it's great!. The question of overdressing is a good one that concerns me as well. I figure, perhaps wrongly, that when one gets to the 60s and beyond --- wearing two piece skirt sets, skirt, sleeveless top and jacket, or a dress and jacket to match are suitable at nice eateries or mall shopping both daytime and at night. However younger gals seem to blend in better
without the jacket or with jeans/pants instead of skirt. Perhaps Heellover's SO would provide further input on this subject assuming your next time out wasn't to a bar.

It really wasn't a fact of being overdressed,as we really didn't stand out and even got quite a few compliments on our outfits.
My wife, after seeing that most there were just in jeans, just felt overdressed.

Good to hear you enjoyed. Take things step by step, but curious if there is another outing planned in the future.

Trust me, it's just fine that you and your wife were overdressed. It was a LGBT club full of very liberated people who have faced their worst fears. It isn't necessary to "fit in", it's only necessary to have a great evening out.

Sounds like a great time, especially being able to share it with your wife!

Never been to one, but I'm surprised to hear your wife felt overdressed. I would think that in that atmosphere, you would really have to be over the top. It sounds like you girls were dressed for a nice night out. Any pics to share?

There are some really nice places out there for entertainment but it is hard to find them.
Glad you found one of them.

Isn't it great to have TG friendly establishments, particularly ones that acknowledge us with a dedicated event. There is a LGBT club in my area that does this one night a month and even makes space available for the girls to dress there.

Oh such a fun time.

Hugs, Robin

Yes we had a wonderful time TokyoLily! And yes we do plan on going again in the not too distant future.
Actually,it was my wife that said "when we come back,we have to dress down somewhat". The key word was WHEN!
So yes we are planning to go again.
Also, sorry girls no pictures this time....for sure next time though. My wife just got a new phone and it takes decent pictures!
