Deed poll on its way

I did it, I sent for my Deed Poll so I can change my name to Miss Amy Caitlin ****. I'm pretty excited but it feels kinda wierd as well, it's psychologically quite a big step.

Off for drinks with friends on Saturday afternoon to say goodbye to the man they knew, then I'll get changed for the evening so they can meet Amy properly and after that they'll never see me as a man again. Have agreed with work that I'll go full time in November. Now I just need to round out the gaps in my wardrobe!

It's so scary and exciting all at the same time. Can't believe I'll finally be on my way to being who I really am.

Thank you for providing the translation, but it is a bit more than just an archaic expression. it is the more straightforward of the two methods commonly in use over here to change your name legally. The official term is "Deed of change of Name" but it is known as a Deed Poll because of it's nature (too complicated to explain the etymology of the term even if I could remember it all without looking it up)

It arrived today! Really excited. Still horribly nervous about Saturday (Lucinda have you ever mixed ale and wine? I did once... not good!! :D) but it has to be done...

Can't believe I'm at this point. There's really no hiding after this month, no more security from secrets. It really is possible to be excited, scared, happy and heartbroken all at once.
