My progress continues!
Three of my closest male friends came over last night and met Amy. From now on they will only see me as a woman and they made a real effort to call me by my new name.
One of them said 'You look pretty convincing; I wasn't sure it was you at first; I'd happily go for a drink in public with you' whilst the other simply said 'you look cool as a woman'. I'll take that!
It just felt amazing (once I'd got over my initial nerves and awkwardness) to be myself with my friends. Trying to hang on to that emotion.
They stayed over so I'm just sat in bed typing this before going out into the living room to see everyone. I've put on some light makeup and my wig so that I won't be reverting to male in their eyes. Not sure what we'll do then but I'd be quite keen to go out.

That' s brilliant Amy. That is the acid test for me. Words of support are great but if people are happy to be seen out with you then it means the world. You look as if you pass in your photo but to have someone say it must be very encouraging.

That's really really good news Amy.
Nice sunny day here in the south east today, hope you get out and enjoy it.

Stories like this make the whole thing worth while. I just spent a week with my whole family (funeral), and they have finally stopped seeing the guy in drag, and knowing the newly minted woman.

Thanks all! After my friends left this morning I walked to my ex girlfriends flat, and she saw Amy for the first time. We then went to GBK for a burger, and on to John Lewis to do some shopping. Tried some clothes on! Then we went for a walk around the village and park.
I think a few people read me, I don't pass totally but I'm hoping hormones will help with that. No comments or extended stares though. Most people just ignored me!
Next weekend my parents and brother + his wife will meet amy as well.

Great day!
Well, you cannot pass 100%, at first, but I would say that it is not something physical, it is something
which is inside, like a radio wave emitting on the male frequency spectrum for a second and some
antenna (people) around you will tune on that, look at you and "read you".
I think that we are read when we want to be read... sounds strange.

I think there is something to that Bas......It only happens to me when I am thinking about it. When I am just going about my business I am just another person out and about.

Yes there's a lot of truth in that. I think I'm certainly guilty of looking nervy and not quite relaxing into the role yet. I'll get there, and I feel like I'm making good progress, but it's early days.
Last week just stepping out of my flat seemed like a big deal but now it's just how I leave to go to other place that are Not My Flat. I'm hoping that soon I'll feel the same about going to the supermarket, or having a drink with friends down 'the local'. I know one thing though, just being myself this last few days has brought about quite possibly the best mood I've been in for years. Yay!
