View Full Version : Are there any "girly" things you hate?

For me, I can't stand long fingernails. As in, if there is any 'white' part beyond the actual finger, it will come off as soon as I have access to a nail clipper. I'll use fake ones when dressed as Alyssa sometimes, but I will never be able to grow them out because it would drive me insane.
How about you?

Like you, I never wanted long finger nails.
I would like to be able to wear heals, I have a pair of 4" heals, and they fit just rite.
How ever i can not even stand in them, I just fall over.
I have to be next to the dresser or a door where i can grab the top of it for balance.
That is my biggest wish.

I've thought about this for 10 minutes and I can't come up with a thing that Tina doesn't enjoy. There are issue that are tedious that Tina wishes weren't so, like needing to reapply powder, and only being able to use lip stain when she's en femme for more than one day. The things that might be annoying seem to be the same things that make both genders look better, and so become a game and not a chore!

I really cannot think of anything I hate about trying to be a girl, except for the use of the word "girly" sounds childish to me for all of us over 18ers. "Feminine" is a much better choice.

I don't particularly care much for short skirts, and I loathe stereotypical bright colours like pink and yellow with a passion.
Traditional role expectations and misogynstic attitudes also grind me, IE that women should exist only to pop out babies and raise them, be subservient to husbands or only aspire to achieve vaccuous materialistic lifestyles. But thankfully those views and the kind of hypocrites who preach them have become more and more outdated and irrelevent over the past fifty decades.

I might have to agree with Skyblue that sometimes I'm a bit annoyed at how there are practically no pockets they're so shallow on my girl jeans...
I like to put stuff in my purse, but then, like every girl I end up having to rummage in there for 2 minutes every time I want to take something out, which is all the time...
None of the other stuff, nails, heels, makeup, bras, etc, bother me and I always laugh whenever GGs I know complain saying something like "you have no idea how hard it is to be a girl!"
Actually, they have no idea :) !

I actually never thought about this myself but I'm here trying hard to find something "girly" or "feminine" that I hate and I'm left with nothing. There's plenty of guy things that I hate so it's weird there's nothing on the other end of the spectrum that comes to mind.
I'm a guitar player, so I have always had long nails on my right hand and short on the left. No other combination possible. Women guitar players have to deal with the same weird thing. Other than that, I love everything femme :0)

Carrying a purse instead of having pockets. Awkward and uncomfortable.
I'm amazed at the number of things that folks hate that I love. Long nails, shallow pockets, purses, etc. all work very well if worn in context. Try to keep male habits and of course pockets are an issue, but if you adopt the female habit of using a purse all the time it is amazing how handy they are.
The one girly thing I dislike is mascara. I use it, but it always ends up irritating my eyes by the end of the day. It's especially annoying if I have to drive after dark.

I would say cotton panties, except I don't consider anything made of cotton to be girlie, so sorry, feminine. If it's not nylon and lace, its not girlie to me, I mean feminine to me. I wonder if I am too "girlie", I mean" feminine ".

I am not a fan of very very long fingernails. I see many women working retail who have great difficulty using their fingers because the nails get in the way. I prefer seeing women with a modest length just over the tips. Me? I can get by with my nails showing a little white.

Yes, you should start with a lower heel. It makes no sense to try to wear a taller heel, especially if spiked/narrow, if you cannot enjoy the experience. I find I can wear a four inch heel with no difficulty around the home. I find I am more mobile with a three inch heel, especially if the heel is "sturdy" and not narrow/spiked. For walking long distances on concrete I like a flat or one inch heel. Much more comfortable than a four inch heel.

I don't like long nails; they get in the way. I sometimes thump my way through a song on the piano (barely good enough to be termed "amateur") and long nails would get in the way. I also don't like thong panties if I have to wear them for more than about 5 minutes. :)
And while I love all other things girly, tight things like a waist cincher or sadistic things like high heels can get uncomfortable after a while. Eventually, my discomfort level gets to the point where I have to take them off.

I don't like long findernails in guy mode - they drive me crazy and I must clip them. However, I love painted long fake nails in femme mode. I'm pretty useless with them, though.
Most everything I like or dislike is about visual appeal (or lack).
- wavy or curly hair looks great on some. I don't like it on me.
- I don't like orange, coral, or brown-toned lip colors. Or any warm tones. I like deep red, but also like cool pinks, fuscia, purple, burgundy, maroon, etc.
- I love high heels but I don't like shoes that have anything on top of the foot, other than the vamp over the toes. No T-straps for me. Also, I don't like mules. My high heels must have some structure at the heel and/or ankle straps.
I'm pretty picky. There are certain things, narrowly defined (by me), that I like. I suspect that this is an early learned, imprinted, and reinforced thing.

I hate it when after working for weeks to get my nails all the same length and well shaped, and one of them breaks and I have to decide - do I want a matched set, or 9 nice nails and one different one...
Also, even with tape and shapers and hours of tugging and rearranging, one of the girls (the one on the left, natch!) is larger than the other....

Everything is easy till you've used an eyelash curler. until you've done it on false eyelashes too. That was a real struggle. on other subjects, While I've spent two weeks max living as much like a girl as I could, there were a few things that got to me. The lack of pockets is one really obvious thing; you can tuck a small item into your bra, but not much. A purse is the obvious answer, and just go on youtube and select 'what's in my purse' and you'll find out how GG's deal with it. Heels are a pain. I know women wear them to feel taller, accentuate their butt and legs, but few realize that they don't need to do that; I wore them to 'feel more like a girl' until I realized too that it was insane. Hair care and makeup with all the all day long touch ups are tedious; I know from living with women that it took them many times as long prepping for the day than it did for me. Shaving EVERYTHING takes up a lot of time, too, with daily touch ups. Waiting to go to the bathroom, well, I've never had that problem either, but know that women do; that and arranging the clothes when sitting to pee all the time. Haircuts are potential disasters; I've seen many girls over the years in tears because some hairdresser screwed things up and the girl knew it would take months to grow it out again. Using a straw to drink; I understand now the lipstick problem. Thongs, high cut panties, and wedgies; 'nuff said. Polishing my nails. It took forever to get used to painting with my left hand. Even then, avoiding painting the skin part is still difficult. Even so, if you're a GG you get used to all this and it just becomes part of your normal day. The really difficult things about being a girl, most guys have no idea. Unavoidable mood swings, the tendency towards magical thinking (due to much of their live being dependent on things out of their control, i.e., pregnancy, dating, physically attractive or not to the guy she wants, etc.), always in danger of assault, hair always in the way, style changing constantly, the feeling of needing to wear a different outfit never goes away, water retention changes what fit and what doesn't, the desire to wear heels because they think it's really important vs the pain involved and the resentment to that problem, being automatically designated 'the cook, the housekeeper, the laundry wench' whenever in a relationship, the list just goes on and on. Sure, men deal with the opposite side of the coin, and women don't know what that is like, and never will either. But we each have our own hell to endure through life.

"Hate" is a pretty strong emotion and I try to reserve it for more imoportant things in life that are better not discussed here.
Things that I "dislike" I try to avoid when possible. "Girlie" (feminine) things that I dislike are singing along with the radio or background music in cars and restaurants and waiting in a store checkout untill the purchases are rung up and bagged to begin rooting through the purse for the cash, and then counting out the exact amount to the penny while everyone else is waiting in line behind them.

Well, I am sure to be in the minority here when I say it, but here goes...
I hate high-heels. There, I said it. I hate em, hate em, hate em. They make me taller, are near impossible to be comfortable in (even when they 'fit perfectly') and can get caught in pavement gaps, sidewalk grates... all sorts of inconvenient places. It's the modern, western counterpart to the old, eastern foot-binding tradition. I honestly believe a man whose goal was to limit female mobility invented the things. We don't want our ladies wandering off, now do we? Well, they'll never get too far too fast in these suckers. Muhuhahaha!

I love heels but I always wear heel heights that I'm comfortable with, such as 2"-3". On the other hand I'm not fond of superlong nails. I prefer them short so I can do daily things around my apartment, lol. And I'm not fond of getting lipstick on my cups and glasses. And why can't they make a foundation that doesn't rub off on your clothing and everything else?

Hate is a strong word.........dislike and avoid comes to mind as a good substitute.
As others have mentioned, I as well dislike Ugg boots for the most part, but I dislike thong flip flops even more. They have there place and function but are over used (worn too often) by many IMO
Skorts don't rate real high with me. For me its either slacks or a skirt.
Oddly some of the things I really like are despised by many GG's and some CD's it seems. Things like pantyhose, thong panties and heels. All of which I am happily wearing at the moment ;)

I hate long toe nails. They look like claws, especially in hosiery. drive me nuts. Other than this, shaving would be a close second. I just wish I could afford to permanently remove all my hair. Clothing wise, I'll second the uggs and raise it a pair of flip flops. Horrible, both of them.

Omg roli, I so understand the whole sizing thing! It took me forever to find out I'm a size 6! The measurements are so confusing. Also, don't really like having to pay $25 for one pair of panties that I love or $25 for 4 pair that are so so. Womens clothing is such a scam.

Shopping. I'm still a guy there. Find it, pay for it, leave the store.
Long fingernails. Impedes my typing speed, and too maintenance intensive.
The color 'pink' in all its varieties. Sorry, I am NOT a 'pink' girl.
Sizing. As Roli said, I am also an engineer (electrical). Bloody hell, there are SPECIFICATIONS for clothing! Use them! EN 13402 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EN_13402)! No more 'I am size 2/4/6/8 etc.' I have a bust size of X (cup - band), a waist size of Y, and an inseam of Z! My foot (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoe_size#Mondopoint) with ISO 9407 measures A+B+C. NATO uses this system, why don't the civilians?
There are times when I hate my long hair, usually when I'm in a hurry.
Addition: Women's wallets and purses. Why, oh Deity of Choice, do the wallets have to be too large to fit in a pocket? Why are some purses and bags smaller than your hand, or larger than a compact car? All I need is my driver's license and a credit / debit card and my mobile. I'm not fitting a brass band or two dozen clowns (Ugh! Frightening - clowns!) in my shoulder bag! All I need space for there is a small wallet, my lunch at work and my Glock. Why, oh, why, Deity of Choice?

Mechanical engineer for 41 years. The problem is this:
There is nothing forcing any clothing manufacturer to follow any set of standards. Even if you wanted to, there is a lot of variance in materials. Some have no stretch, some have a lot of stretch and many are in between. It would be very tough to create a standard based on that.
The profit motive! People have manipulated the sizes and size systems in many cases to distinguish themselves from other companies. Vanity being what it is, if your real size is 16 (as I am), women may be much happier if they find an item that fits, but it is labeled as size 14 or maybe even 12. Which do you think people would like? Chico does it one better and translates their larger sizes to small single digit numbers, if I remember correctly. So, your regular size 16 or Chico size 5 (or whatever it is)? Hmmmmmm...

TINY 'feminine' watch faces that I can't read without holding them up to my nose. I use my great-grandfather's railroad chronometer (a very accurate pocket watch) at work or one of the 'Ironman' style watches on my casual days.
Dresses with back zips that don't have a way for me to use my pull-string (paperclip on twine). I'm a single girl without someone to 'zip me up', so no matter how cute the dress is, if I can't get in or out of it, I'm not buying it.

Whether it was a guy or girl who first thought of it, I tend to think it's partially a mixed up thing where women find taller men more attractive, so they automatically think that men will find taller women more attractive. We see similar things going on in the dating world in the U.S.; where a lot of women mix up what they want in a guy, with what they think a man want's in a girl. Over and over I've heard women complain, " I have a good job, a nice car, and a nice home. So why don't men want to date me?". A huge percentage of U.S. women have become 'men' in that respect. So more and more men look to other cultures for our female mates, those who are more feminine and physically attractive to us.

what else? oh yea i hate tiny zippers or clasps that you know are going to break, i hate back zippers on dresses, i hate that the buckle on heels are on the outer side of the foot making it harder to fasten sometimes especially with nails
lastly i hate my hair sticking to my lip gloss

1) I hate lipstick. So much so, I avoid kissing my wife on the lips if she is wearing it.
2) Rings/bracelets. Don't care for them in male or female mode. Same with watches. Kinda limits the bling expenses.

I'm with you all on the sizing issue...which is one of the reasons I have yet to build my wardrobe. Also not a fan of the ugg boot or the typical and boring flip-flop; yet, anything with a platform is my weakness, lol.
One "girly" thing I hate is the insistance on small shoe sizes. Like I've mentioned in some of these threads on this site, I want, for example, some platform(there is that word again!) Converse Chuck Taylors. But when you go to the website or even go to the stores, they usually stop at size 10 Womens. Geez, I'm sure there are some legitimate women with feet over size 10!
Skorts...I'm cool with. If anything, I hate what is considered male shorts, at least in my urban enviornment. How can you have shorts that reach your ankles? To me, why not simply wear pants(and preferably, not sagging?)? I love my jean cutoffs, the only piece of my true wardrobe I have so far.
Aw yeah...what are those sandals that women wear that look like spats? I HATE THEM WITH THE PASSION OF A MILLION SUNS! I see them in my hometown and it drives me up the wall. Of all the things women can wear, why does horrible Scrooge McDuck looking things?!
